Solution Engineer

Opti, a division of Aliaxis Next, is a leader in IoT cloud-based stormwater management, is seeking a full-time Solution Engineer to support a fast-growing company whose products help communities adapt to changing societal and environmental circumstances. Opti is the creator and leading provider of Continuous Monitoring and Adaptive Control (CMAC) solutions. Opti's software products provide solutions to multiple, often competing, stormwater objectives, providing customers with economic savings, resiliency and peace of mind since 2007.

 

The Solution Engineer is responsible for business development and technical sales support in multiple geographic regions. Solution Engineers will collaborate with Opti’s ecosystem of channel partners including architectural, engineering, and consulting (AEC) firms, and  infrastructure and digital solution providers in order to bring the best solutions to Opti customers. Solution Engineers will be responsible for opportunity qualification, solution design, proposal support, and business case efforts in the sales process to map Opti’s solutions and value to customer needs. 

 

Preferred candidates will hold at least a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related discipline and have 3-5 years of progressive experience in engineering consulting, technical sales, or partner relationship management. A background in water resources and/or civil engineering is preferred. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify prospective customers and their engineering consultants. Identify project opportunities and lead aspects of the buyer's journey and deal execution.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of Opti products and articulate our value proposition to a variety of partners. Continually grow your working knowledge of the Opti platform and the stormwater industry.
  • Review engineering plans and design documents to determine the applicability of Opti’s products for project opportunities. 
  • Develop business cases to communicate the value of Opti’s products with respect to customers’ needs, and support AEC partners in designing with Opti technology. 
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations that describe the Company’s products and services to prospective customers and partners. Emphasize positive customer outcomes delivered by product capabilities and features. 
  • Engage with key partner stakeholders to understand their business objectives and ensure mutual success for the end customer. 
  • Develop a working knowledge of stormwater regulations and how Opti’s products can be applied in different regulatory frameworks. 
  • Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Regulatory, Customer Success, and Product Development to position Opti’s products for adoption in the marketplace. 
  • Maintain Opti’s CRM system and data in order to support company growth.

  • Experience with water resources or civil/environmental engineering.
  • Experience with environmental modeling and data analysis.

  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing situations at a high growth company.
  • Customer service skills to listen to customer concerns and address their needs.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Valued Additional Skills and Experience

  • Advanced degrees or relevant experience in civil or water resource engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license is a plus.
  • Experience supporting the sale of products and digital solutions for civil infrastructure.
  • Previous training in sales methodologies such as strategic selling, consultative selling or challenger sales.
  • Experience with CRM and forecasting systems.
