Office Hours:
- Monday–Thursday: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Friday: 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
- Saturday–Sunday: Closed
Note: Actual shift schedules may vary between 6:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday–Thursday, and 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Fridays, depending on seasonal summer/winter hours
Position Purpose:
The Registered Nurse supports the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care within our oral surgery practice. This role provides clinical support before, during, and after procedures; ensures adherence to safety and compliance standards; and promotes exceptional patient experience. The RN works closely with the surgeon and clinical team to prepare patients, assist during surgery, monitor patient status, and support postoperative recovery while maintaining an efficient clinical workflow.
Essential Functions
- Work in conjunction with physicians in providing excellence in all aspects of patient care
- Directs flow of clinical area/assignment of patients to clinical staff
- Documents patient care
- Makes post-op patient calls
- Maintains narcotics and other medication and patient medication records
- Gives pre, intra, and post-op medications as ordered
- Orders medications and oversees documentation/counts of controlled meds
- Help maintain supplies needed list of office administrator
- Oversee sterilization and related procedures and documentation for infection control
- Send medical clearance requests per doctors’ requests and keep log of when we receive responses. Contact patients and confirm understanding of clearance and clearly document the clearance instructions in the patient chart so scheduler will know to confirm patient compliance
- Send biopsy specimens to Oral Surgery Pathology Lab and confirm receipt of report from lab and chart accordingly.
- Reviews charts and alerts staff and doctors of positive history
- Starts, maintains, and discontinues IV’s
- Recovers and dismisses patients
- Monitors patient pre, intra, and post-op for complications
- Performs charting and checks charts for completion
- Read EKG strips
- Draws blood
- PRP procedure
- Maintain defibrillator and emergency medications and equipment and oversee regular emergency training drills for back staff
- Calls patients pre- and post-op as needed; patient phone calls taken as needed
- Field all prescription requests
- Performs patient glucose tests and maintains monitors
- BLS/ACLS/PALS
- Willing to take the DAANCE Certification
- Audits surgical EMR notes of back staff for accuracy
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency, required
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license

Associate or bachelor’s degree in nursing (ADN or BSN) preferred

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

ACLS, PALS, and sedation/anesthesia certification required, or willingness to obtain upon hire
Experience:
- Prior nursing experience in surgical, perioperative, Med/Surg, or critical care settings highly preferred
- Proficiency in patient assessment, perioperative care, and postoperative monitoring
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) and accurate clinical documentation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on patient education and comfort
- Knowledge of infection control, safety standards, and clinical best practices
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

Skills & Abilities
- Proficient with medical devices and surgical equipment, including glucose monitors, infusion pumps, PRP machines, suction, cautery, pulp testers, and sterilization tools
- Experienced with imaging equipment: Panorex, CT scan, ITERO, intraoral cameras
- Competent with office and clinical technology, including computers and duplicators
- Knowledgeable in oxygen and nitrous oxide administration
- Trained in emergency procedures, including CPR, ACLS, and use of emergency suction and defibrillator
