Research Associate/Senior Research Associate, Novel-Viral Technologies

Position Summary:

Orbital Therapeutics is seeking a skilled Research Associate with experience in molecular biology and mammalian tissue culture to join the Novel Viral Technologies team in our efforts to engineer new solutions for in vivo gene delivery. The ideal candidate will help plan, execute, and interpret experiments, which includes the design, production, and characterization of novel viral vectors and maintenance of mammalian cell lines. Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and analyze molecular assays such as RT-qPCR, ELISA, and flow cytometry.
  • Maintain mammalian cell lines, including engineered cell lines, and production of viral vectors through transient transfection.
  • Rigorously document experiments in electronic lab notebook and communicate scientific findings to team members in a timely manner.
  • Assist in the design, evaluation, and cataloguing of reagents and materials to optimize team goals.
  • Contribute to the scientific strategy, interpretation, and output of the team.
  • Collaborate across the company to accelerate Orbital programs.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Biotechnology, Virology, Immunology, or equivalent with 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture maintenance and transient transfection is required.
  • Hands-on experience performing molecular assays such as RT-qPCR, ELISA, and flow cytometry is also required.
  • Ability to independently plan, execute, and analyze experiments.
  • Experience generating stable cell lines is preferred.
