ABOUT THIS ROLE

The 10+ person Growth team is responsible for shaping Orchestra’s new business and growth strategy, focusing on integrating capabilities across firms, driving new business outreach and providing expert counsel on how to shape business growth for new and current clients across Orchestra and Orchestra companies.

Orchestra is seeking a VP or SVP of Business Development Operations to join our Growth team. This role will focus on developing new strategic systems and protocols to lift up the work of the Growth team. It will provide the foundation to scale the Growth function and center its strategic role as Orchestra continues to expand. The person best suited to this role will be a motivated self-starter, ideally with strong backgrounds in business development, systems-building and project management. This is an exciting role for a person looking to build a new approach and work at the center of strategic decision-making for a rapidly expanding company and its business development function. This person will report directly to the Head of Growth at Orchestra.

Please note that this role is not a sales job and is internal to the Orchestra network (not client facing).

Role location: This role is based in our New York, N.Y. office on a hybrid basis. Orchestra staff are in-office 3 days per week.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

As a VP/SVP of Business Development Operations on the Growth team, you will…

  • Develop, implement and train on systems, databases, process and protocols for new business across Orchestra and Orchestra companies and be a link between new business and marketing strategies
  • Support the big picture business development strategy across Orchestra and Orchestra companies
  • Lead multiple projects at once while engaging with many different people and personalities, coordinating between teams and firms, researching new projects, project-managing business development integrations and managing programs to support Growth team expansion and infrastructure
  • Partner with all Orchestra companies on coordinated business development systems
  • Collaborate closely with firm management teams to develop and inspire growing teams of strategists to be innovative and creative in our business development endeavors
  • Directly manage and mentor staff, and provide overall strategic direction and feedback for their development and work (note, there is currently one direct report for this position)
  • A little further down the line: shape and scale initiatives for client upsells, expansions and retention

Essential skills:

  • 7-10+ years of professional experience in business development, ideally at a communications or marketing agency
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize work streams and track progress across multiple teams
  • Expert multitasking skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once, work quickly and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail 
  • Experience in leading and mentoring a diverse team and a demonstrated ability to successfully motivate, manage and mentor teams to meet objectives
  • Track record of successfully creating scalable processes and solutions
  • In-depth experience with a variety of business development tools, systems and processes (ideally including having led the implementation of them)

WORKING AT ORCHESTRA

Salary range (commensurate with experience and skills): 

  • Vice President: $130,000-$170,000
  • Senior Vice President: $170,000-$215,000

This role is eligible for end of year bonuses based on firm, team and individual performance.
