Position Description

Origis Energy's O&M Business Unit is seeking an experienced EHS Manager or Associate to manage all EHS functions of Origis Energy Services projects and supporting internal teams. This role will focus on the East Region of projects to include states such as Florida, Mississippi, and Illinois to start. While there are no direct reports, it is a management position which performs tasks as specified in executed O&M service agreements between Origis Energy Services and the Customer/Operator.

Reporting directly to the Senior Director EHS out of the Austin, TX office, you will be responsible for scheduling, monitoring, auditing, reporting, and training on EHS relevant topics. You must work well on both self-initiated projects and those driven by concerns and issues reported by employees. The ideal candidate takes pride in their analytical abilities, organization skills and attention to detail and appreciates an environment where superior work is encouraged, noticed, and rewarded.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining an OSHA compliant safety program. 
  • Develop, implement, and report metrics for measuring site/BU EHS performance.
  • Develop and follow written EHS procedures for site operations and maintenance.
  • Pre-Qualify subcontractors/vendors, monitor/coach contractors or Origis Energy Services technicians as needed to fulfill O&M service agreement obligations.
  • Provide EHS trainings to personnel and ensure compliance against training matrix.
  • Manage hazardous and universal waste program and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct audits of site EHS programs, review and revise procedures as necessary.
  • Perform environmental, regulatory, and safety reporting.
  • Understands and influences human behaviors to reduce workplace risks  
  • Conduct near miss and accident incident investigations, report findings, and implement corrective actions.
  • Build, foster, and improve on a strong safety culture.
  • Participate in audits from outside regulatory agencies
  • Act as the subject matter expert within the business for anyone with questions or queries regarding EHS
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures  
  • Supports EHS Management in all areas of business  
  • Serves as EHS’s Point of contact on all Work Compensation matters  
  • Creates and manages all start up project documentation  
  • Manages all requests for proposals (RFPs) on behalf of EHS  
  • Manages Subcontractor Pre-qualification documents and process  
  • Other relevant duties and responsibilities may be delegated

Preferred Qualifications

  • At Least 3 Years’ Experience as an EHS Manager.
  • Experience in the renewable energy field preferred.
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification preferred.
  • OSHA Authorized Trainer certification preferred.
  • Excellent in People and Organizational Development and Management.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting.  
  • Expert-level skills in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to analyze EHS data and identify anomalies.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, lengths, and electrical values. 
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and statistical analysis.
  • Proven ability to multitask and support several team members on various projects and initiatives. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization may exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, architectural or electrical drawing, or schedule form.
  • Ability to analyze and respond to organizational and personnel issues as they relate to EHS.

  • Create written reports/memos/emails to communicate findings internally and externally.
  • Communicate with customers about safety, environmental and regulatory issues.
  • Communicate with contractors about performance of their employees.
  • Communicate with field technicians and leadership.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
  • Be able to inspect and work maintenance activities in outdoor type areas without handicap access.
  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Regularly required to kneel, crawl, climb ladders and stairs.
  • Lift 50 pounds unassisted.
