M&A Investing Analyst - 2027 - Orion (New York, NY)

New York, New York

M&A Investing Analyst (Full-Time, 2027)

Company Overview

At Orion, we are builders. Orion Services Group is building a skilled trades company: a growing network of commercial services businesses across the United States, spanning HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building automation, and related trades. We want to be the gold standard for people in the Commercial Services trades. We are highly acquisitive, partnering with 15+ operating companies per year, and we are building a 100+ year business with an A+ team. Our culture is low ego, high performance, and deeply committed to our people, our Operating Companies, and our long-term vision.

Role Description

We are seeking a highly driven and organized critical thinker to join our investing team as a full-time analyst beginning in August 2027. The M&A Investing Analyst will have responsibilities that span the entire deal transaction process and are beyond the scope of traditional entry-level investing and finance positions, including: financial statement analysis, financial modeling and valuation, investment committee presentations, transaction structuring, Letter of Intent negotiation, accounting, operational and legal due diligence, third party advisor management (lawyers, CPAs, consultants), debt financing, and seller relationship management.

The role is a unique opportunity to gain extensive M&A deal experience and leadership skills in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. The role begins with in-depth training – working directly with Orion’s senior leadership to develop skills as an investor. Investing Analysts are expected to interact directly with sellers from day 1 and rapidly develop to lead transaction processes. Our junior team is given real autonomy in a collaborative, team-first culture, and we hire analysts who want to grow into future deal leaders.

Candidate Competencies

  • Expected to graduate from a 4-year undergraduate program in Spring 2027 (or Winter 2026).
  • Strong interest in M&A, investing, business, and finance with an analytical mindset and quantitative experience.
  • Strong desire to partner with founders and management teams to build leading skilled trades businesses, not just invest in them.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.7.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future visa sponsorship.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proactive leader with the ability to multi-task and work under limited supervision.
  • Intellectual curiosity and ability to learn quickly.
  • Sound strategic and critical thinking skills.
  • Enthusiastic team player with a positive attitude and high integrity.

Location and Compensation

  • This is a full-time role based in New York City, in the office four days per week (Fridays remote), with a start date in August 2027.
  • Base salary of $115,000 with a competitive year-end bonus package.
  • Successful analysts will have a significant amount of upward mobility through a variety of career paths within Orion, including the opportunity to grow into senior investing roles.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
