Position Summary
Orr Group is seeking a Director, Finance & Administration to join our team at a pivotal time of growth. Reporting to the COO, the Director will lead the financial management of the firm while overseeing HR administrative functions. This role ensures that Orr Group’s finances, HR, and operations are structured, compliant, and positioned to advance organizational strategy.
The Director will manage accounting, reporting, and compliance functions; supervise the Associate Director of Human Resources; and collaborate with executive leadership to ensure both financial and people operations support the firm’s long-term goals. This role requires a leader who is equally comfortable running financial systems and processes as they are guiding HR and people operations.
Responsibilities
FINANCE
- Oversee all aspects of day-to-day financial operations, including accounts receivable/payable, invoicing, reconciliations, expenses, and bookkeeping.
- Manage tax, audit, insurance, compliance, and financial reporting requirements.
- Serve as administrator for financial systems.
- Elevate financial issues and discrepancies to executive leadership with analysis and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate forecasts, support budget development, and monitor variances.
- Manage relationships with banks, auditors, vendors, and insurance providers.
- Provide executives with insights into organizational finances to inform decision-making.
- Partner with external family office representatives on select financial and administrative matters, maintaining discretion and alignment with organizational needs.
HR
- Translate executive priorities into HR policies, systems, and processes, with support from the Associate Director of HR and the COO.
- Partner with the COO to ensure HR and finance decisions align with organizational strategy.
- Supervise and develop the Associate Director of HR, ensuring effective execution of HR operations and administration.
- Produce HR reporting and analytics to support workforce planning and organizational effectiveness.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of professional experience in finance, administration, or operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA or accounting background preferred).
- Experience working in a consulting or professional services environment a plus.
- Experience working with or supporting a family-owned or closely held business is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, compliance requirements, and HR best practices.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, compliance requirements, and relevant regulations.
- Skilled in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Proficiency with financial and HR systems (Unanet, Paylocity, Salesforce familiarity preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Exceptional communication skills, able to translate financial and operational concepts for non-specialist audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- High integrity, professionalism, and a collaborative spirit.

Location
Orr Group offices are located in Washington, DC and New York City. Candidates must be based in either metropolitan area.
Salary Range
The base salary for this role starts at $140,000 with an annual bonus potential of up to $25,000.
