About the role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support our growing finance function. The Senior Accountant is responsible for execution of monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc accounting deliverables and will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing the monthly close process, preparing reconciliations and journal entries, and supporting financial reporting and audit activities.The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of GAAP, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams. They will help strengthen accounting processes, resolve discrepancies, and ensure the organization has timely, reliable financial information for decision-making. This role is ideal for an experienced accountant who enjoys owning core accounting responsibilities and contributing to a high-performing, scalable finance team.

You will report into the Manager, Accounting.

Work Location: This position is based in our New York, NY office, requiring a hybrid work schedule with 3 days of in-office work per week. Thursdays are a required in-office day for team meetings and events, while your other two office days are flexible to suit your schedule. #LI-Hybrid

Pay Transparency: The base pay for this role is: $91,908 - $120,629 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar's unlimited vacation program and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities:

  • Monthly, Quarterly and Year-end Close
    • Execution of monthly journal entries and reconciliation of all accounts.
    • Initial review of work completed by Accounting Analysts.
    • Execution of the monthly close process, including analytics and related financial statement disclosures.
    • Maintain internal control procedures.
  • Other
    • Collaborating with other departments to ensure compliance on all accounting matters.
    • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities.
    • Partnering with our Financial Systems team to create and execute on automation opportunities and efficiencies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or 4 years of relevant experience.
  •  3+ years of related experience. 

Bonus points:

  • Experience in a similar position at a health insurance company.
  • Experience using Workday as an ERP system. 
  • Experience using OpenAI Codex or other similar AI tools. 
  • Certified Public Accountant licensure (CPA).

Travel required up to 20%
