About the Role
Otto Aviation is seeking a Staff Safety and Quality Systems Coordinator to join our Safety team and support the development and execution of key systems and initiatives within the Safety and Quality Assurance Office. The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting safety and quality functions within an aerospace design and manufacturing organization. This position will handle a blend of administrative, coordination, and technical support activities. In this role, you will assist in developing and maintaining new systems, support daily operational needs, and have the opportunity to grow your skill set across multiple disciplines within the organization.
The Safety and Quality Assurance Office is responsible for establishing, promoting, and maintaining the highest standards of product safety, regulatory compliance, workplace health and safety, and product quality throughout the design, manufacturing, and operational lifecycle of our aircraft. Operating within a startup environment focused on innovation and growth, the our team develops and manages the Safety Management System (SMS), Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental Health and Safety programs (EHS), auditing, training, operational safety, and continuous improvement initiatives. What You’ll Do
- Coordinate planning and support for safety requirements at onsite events, including activities at the hangar and future company facilities.
- Provide administrative support to Safety Assurance, Quality Assurance, and EHS teams, including document management, scheduling, reporting, and communications.
- Assist in the coordination and tracking of internal audits, self-assessments, and inspections.
- Support the administration and coordination of training activities, including recordkeeping and logistics
- Contribute to the development and implementation of Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Management System (QMS) processes.
- Support Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives, such as incident reporting, hazard assessments, and compliance activities.
- Help maintain records for compliance programs, including regulatory and customer requirements.
- Assist in drafting, revising, and controlling safety and quality documentation.
- Participate in cross-functional projects to establish new systems, processes, and best practices across the Safety, Quality, and EHS domains.
- Provide general coordination and support to help Safety and Quality teams meet operational and certification goals.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned, supporting a dynamic and growing organization.
Who You Are
Education
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; associate degree with relevant experience considered.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an administrative, safety, quality, or EHS role (aerospace or manufacturing environment preferred).
Required Skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
- Willingness to work in a startup environment where flexibility, initiative, and a growth mindset are critical.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); experience with SharePoint, Smartsheet, or similar tools is a plus.
- Knowledge of aviation safety, quality management systems (e.g., AS9100), or environmental health and safety programs is a plus but not required — willingness to learn is key.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Where You'll Be
Otto Aviation is currently a remote workplace culture, with plans to secure a permanent headquarters for our corporate office in the next 2-3 years.
