Otto Aviation is designing world-class aircraft from first principles physics and delivering ground-breaking aircraft and economic performance.
About the Role
The Head of Facilities is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational management, and long-term development of all Otto Aviation facilities. This role oversees the day-to-day management of preexisting buildings, the renovation of brownfield sites like Hanger 825, and the planning and execution of greenfield developments, including Otto’s future FAIT Campus.
This role requires a balance of operational leadership, program management, construction oversight, and stakeholder coordination to ensure Otto’s facilities align with program schedules, budgets, and operational needs.
What You’ll Do
Preexisting Facilities Operations
- Develop an organizational architecture for facilities management, including an org chart and staffing plan, that covers the full scope of maintenance, operations, and site management tied to program timelines and budgets.
- Lead maintenance efforts for existing facilities, including janitorial services, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and routine repairs.
- Manage lease expectations, including negotiations with landlords, airport operations, and ensuring contract compliance.
- Partner with EHS, Safety, and Quality teams to maintain safe, compliant work environments that meet OSHA, EPA, and FAA regulations.
- Operate a robust feedback loop with internal stakeholders (Manufacturing, Engineering, Test, Supply Chain, HR) to align facilities performance with evolving operational needs.
Brownfield Construction & Renovation – Hanger 825 & Other Sites
- Develop and manage construction budgets, trade contractor relationships, and renovation schedules.
- Lead the Hanger Design Committee, balancing stakeholder requirements with practical design, cost, and schedule realities.
- Translate stakeholder input into actionable construction plans, ensuring alignment with operational, regulatory, and financial constraints.
- Oversee general contractors, architects, and tenant improvement (TI) efforts from design through execution.
- Provide continuous program management data, including schedules, risks, and cost tracking, to the PMO to maintain alignment with the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
Greenfield Development – FAIT Campus
- Lead the collection and management of requirements from all stakeholder organizations for the future FAIT Campus.
- Support NEPA environmental certification efforts through coordinated site planning.
- Work closely with Architecture & Engineering (A/E) teams and Industrial Engineering (IE) to size buildings, update parametrics, and refine site planning to meet operational needs.
- Act as Otto’s primary decision-maker and representative to A/E and general contractor (GC) teams, driving critical path decisions on campus design, sequencing, and construction.
- Manage and continuously update the programmatic data associated with the campus build—including cost, risk, schedule, and design evolution—to keep stakeholders aligned.
