About the Role
Reporting to the Manager – Materials, Processes, and Structural Test, the Technician – Materials, Processes, and Structural Test supports the execution of structural and materials testing in a dynamic aerospace lab environment. This role is responsible for hands-on manufacture and preparation of composite test articles, instrumentation, test setup, test equipment operation, and data collection/reduction activities in support of engineering development and certification efforts.
What You’ll Do
- Fabricate and inspect composite test articles per engineering drawings and process specifications
- Assemble structural test setups, including fixtures, load paths, and support structures
- Install instrumentation such as strain gauges, thermocouples, and displacement sensors
- Operate test systems including hydraulic actuators, load frames, and data acquisition equipment
- Conduct static, fatigue, and environmental tests following established procedures
- Monitor tests in real time and assist with data collection and reduction
- Maintain traceability documentation and support FAA conformity inspections
- Perform routine equipment checks and maintain lab cleanliness and organization
- Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot test setups and ensure test objectives are met
Who You Are
Education
- Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
Experience
- 2+ years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical testing environment
- Familiarity with composite part fabrication and inspection
- Basic understanding of instrumentation and data acquisition systems
- Experience with strain gage bonding, and wiring
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and test procedures
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Experience with hydraulic systems and structural test rigs
- Exposure to FAA conformity processes and aerospace documentation standards
- Proficiency in using hand tools, measurement devices, and lab equipment
