About The Role 

The Accounting Manager will lead full-cycle accounting activities, own the monthly close, and help mature the company’s processes, to public-company standards in support of a future IPO. The role is hands-on, reporting to the Controller, and partnering with FP&A, engineering, and PMO to bridge from an R&D environment to scalable, SOX-ready financial operations. 

What You’ll Do 

  • General Ledger, Close, Reconciliations 
  • Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process ensuring timely and accurate US GAAP financial statements 
  • Leverage technical accounting expertise to evaluate and interpret complex financial transactions, ensuring proper classification and compliance with GAAP 
  • Ensure account reconciliations are prepared timely, accurately 

Accounting Operations 

  • Lead the AP (including expense report and p-card program), AR, and Cash Management functions, own the weekly payment run process 
  • Review fixed assets, assets under construction, lease accounting entries 
  • Own project accounting set up and maintenance 
  • Review of payroll and benefits entries, responsible for bonus and stock-based compensation entries 
  • Ramp system administrator until the company fully transitions to Concur, monitors integration with QuickBooks 
  • Ensure Concur and SAP remain in sync and reconciled (expense reimbursements and p-card transactions) 

Process Improvements, Systems Administration 

  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems 
  • Passionate about technology, you own the UAT process for SAP and Concur implementations, and will be the system administrator for SAP post implementation 
  • Create user guides, update policies and procedures under new ERP system environment 

Leadership and Collaboration 

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team; set clear expectations, review work and build a culture of ownership, accuracy and continuous improvement 
  • Foster strong collaboration with internal and cross-functional teams 

Other 

  • Support IPO readiness efforts 
  • Collaborate with external auditors and tax consultants. 
  • Respond to ad hoc requests for information from internal/external stakeholders 

Who You Are 

Education  

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA strongly preferred 

Experience 

  • 7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including a mix of public accounting and industry; experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or complex R&D environments is highly desirable 
  • Solid knowledge of US GAAP, including leases, stock-based compensation, and R&D/project accounting; experience with technical memos and audit interaction 
  • Prior experience in a high-growth or pre-IPO company and/or with public company SOX readiness, IPO transactions is a strong plus 
  • Hands-on experience leading the close, managing a team, implementing process improvements 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-changing environment with incomplete processes, and able to design pragmatic, scalable solutions 
  • Strong systems orientation, experience with implementing or optimizing ERP and related financial tools 
  • SAP, Concur, QuickBooks, Ramp experience a plus

Where You’ll Be 

Otto Aviation is currently a remote workplace culture, with plans to secure a permanent headquarters for our corporate office in the next 2-3 years.  

  **This role is remote at first with travel to our headquarters in Ft Worth, TX, then will be onsite at our new manufacturing site in Jacksonville, FL
