Senior AI-Native Product Designer
Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We've helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.
Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.
We are looking for a Senior AI Native Product Designer for our Platform Team. In this role, you will not simply manage a UI kit; you will architect the foundational systems–both deterministic and probabilistic–that allow our designers and engineers to build intelligent, context-aware experiences at scale.
At HealthOS, our mission is to empower every person to own their inner potential. We sit at the intersection of health and technology, building the platform that powers a new generation of intelligent software. Our products help a global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality, providing the daily insights and practical steps needed to inspire a healthier lifestyle.
We believe that the most sophisticated technology should be the most quiet. Our philosophy is rooted in calm technology: creating tools that don't demand our attention, but rather return it to us. Empowering the world starts with empowering our team. We ensure our people have the space, the tools, and the agency to do their best work–both in and out of the office–as we help millions of people live healthier, happier lives.
What you will do:
- Design for Agency & Autonomy: Move beyond "chat-box" paradigms. Architect agentic workflows where the platform anticipates user needs and provides "one-step-ahead" utility through ambient, screenless interactions.
- Orchestrate Probabilistic UX: Define the interaction patterns for uncertainty. You will design how the system communicates confidence levels, handles AI hallucinations, and maintains user trust when dealing with sensitive health data.
- Bridge Design & Data Science: Work as a peer to Data Scientists to shape model outputs into meaningful human experiences. You’ll help define the ontologies, logic gates, and feedback loops that allow our AI to learn from user behavior without being intrusive.
- Functional AI Prototyping: You don't just draw; you build. Use the latest tools (React, LLM APIs, Vercel AI SDK) to create high-fidelity, functional prototypes that prove out complex AI logic and contextual triggers before they hit production.
- Architect Generative Systems: Lead the creation of "Generative UI" frameworks and contextual tokens that allow our platform to assemble personalized experiences on the fly based on a user’s unique "Healthspan" data.
- Champion Calm Intelligence: Ensure our AI is "quiet." You will guard the user against cognitive overload by filtering the noise of raw health data into calm, actionable, and timely insights.
- Influence through Technical Craft: Navigate deep-dive sessions with backend and ML engineers. You speak the language of APIs, RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), and latent space, aligning stakeholders through the strength of your technical vision.
This is a hybrid-remote role, with the expectation to work from our San Francisco offices at least half-time.
REQUIREMENTS
We would love to consider you for this role if you have:
- 5+ Years of Experience: A proven track record in Senior or Staff roles at the intersection of Product Design and emerging technology, specifically in AI/ML-driven environments.
- AI-Native Mindset: You understand that AI is a new design material. You are familiar with the capabilities and constraints of LLMs, embedding models, and predictive analytics.
- Code-As-Craft: You are proficient in React/Typescript, or native code and comfortable working with APIs. You can build functional prototypes that interact with real data models to test "Agentic" behaviors.
- Modern AI Toolstack: Expert-level proficiency in Figma (Variables/Config) combined with an obsession with AI-accelerated workflows (e.g., Cursor, v0, prompt engineering for UI generation, and automated documentation).
- Systems & Logic Literacy: A deep understanding of how design logic translates to backend architecture. You have experience working with "headless" systems and understand how to design for multi-modal inputs (voice, haptic, ambient).
- Portfolio of Intelligent Systems: A portfolio demonstrating how you’ve handled high-complexity data and AI-driven interactions. We want to see how you managed the "black box" of AI to create a transparent, user-centric experience.
