Role Overview

Outer Biosciences is seeking a Technical Sales Manager, Beauty & Personal Care Actives to drive and develop a robust, high-quality pipeline of new commercial opportunities, ensuring sustainable and profitable growth for the business. This role is responsible for identifying, securing, and converting new customer opportunities — with a particular focus on the beauty and personal care markets. This is an opportunity to harness your scientific background, technical acumen, and commercial insights to champion Outer Biosciences skin health platform as well as its beauty and personal care actives portfolio externally. This is a dynamic leadership position. Additionally, you will support cross-functional collaboration with marketing, scientific teams, and distributors. The overarching goal is to ensure consistent, profitable year-over-year growth and to deliver financial results that align with both the short- and long-term objectives for the company. This critical position requires persuasion, strategic thinking, attention to detail, exceptional communication skills, and creative problem-solving abilities. This person will report directly to the Chief Business Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive YoY financial growth through conversion of opportunities in the personal care and beauty markets with clear end-to-end ownership from lead generation to commercial conversion
  • Develop and define clear commercial processes to identify, prioritize, and acquire new customers and opportunities in the personal care and beauty industry
  • Drive sales growth by aligning with the global commercial strategy, building a strong sales pipeline, and forging strategic partnerships with current customers, established brands, emerging brands, distributors, and contract manufacturers.
  • Set clear objectives and performance metrics aligned with business strategy
  • Capture customer and market feedback via CRM system
  • Emphasize identifying unmet market needs and crafting initiatives to address them
  • Constructively engage with stakeholders across the company to provide superior customer service
  • Serves as an Outer Biosciences representative at select industry events and tradeshows to maximize lead generation and advocate our technology.
  • Promotes teamwork by training, advising, inspiring, and mentoring sales associates, specialists, and other sales related commercial team members.
  • Leads by example while fostering a culture where contributions are valued and collaboration drives success.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in a basic science (Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biology, Chemistry) or related technical discipline. Previous laboratory-based research experience is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ of progressive business development, sales, technical customer service, or marketing experience within the beauty actives, specialty ingredients/chemical or personal care industry.
  • Exceptional negotiation in value-sales, influencing key stakeholders, and executive-level communication skills
  • Established network within personal care and beauty industries
  • Competency in developing, maintaining, and reporting on sales processes
  • Strong work ethic and leadership skills
  • Continuous learner, meticulous, and thrives in dynamic environments.
  • Highly productive, agile, and resilient with exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interactive communication skills.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively both independently and in a group..
