Senior Data Analyst, Marketing

As the ideal candidate, you should have confidence in your hands-on data analysis skills and have a strong intuition on how to approach marketing data analytics problems. You know what questions to ask stakeholders to identify a clear goal and how to structure your analysis to achieve it. You are able to take vast amounts of data, break it down into manageable pieces, and then systematically tease out clear insights. You’ve worked on or closely with marketing teams (Growth/User Acquisition, CRM/Lifecycle, Product Marketing, Brand, etc.) before and can understand the mindsets and priorities of marketers in order to deliver clear, actionable, and impactful recommendations based on your analysis. You’re comfortable managing multiple work streams and working with cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize as needed. You can communicate technical concepts simply to non technical audiences.

How you'll add value:

  • Manipulate and analyze large and complex data sets to distill marketing insights from data and articulate cohesive, well-grounded recommendations using creative, effective, structured, and analytical thinking.
  • Identify customer characteristics, behaviors and/or milestones that lead to efficient acquisition, trial conversion, and long term customer retention.
  • Partner with Marketing teams to develop a prioritized road map of scientifically rigorous, high-impact experiments across the user journey from acquisition through activation through lifecycle and ongoing retention with feature adoption and usage.  
  • Develop scalable data models and intuitive data visualizations and dashboards that translate data into clear insights that support tangible, measurable solutions for marketing partners to implement.
  • Build and maintain CAC and LTV models to help guide marketing leadership’s strategic planning and goal setting.
  • Lead attribution modeling to inform cross-channel marketing strategy and investments
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to document business requirements to deliver and iterate on analytics projects and reporting suites.
  • Partner with the Web Product and Engineering teams on marketing technology projects such as website event instrumentation and governance
  • Partner with Data Engineering to integrate, validate, and standardize data from various sources into our data warehouse in order to provide metrics visibility to leadership, enable advanced
  • Collaborate with other members of the Analytics team on data governance, analytics methodologies, and general best practices

What you'll need to be successful in this role:

  • 3-5+ years of experience in data analytics
  • Intermediate SQL skills required; R or Python skills a plus
  • Experience with Looker, Tableau, or other equivalent BI tools required
  • Experience with marketing data (digital advertising platforms, marketing automation tools, CRMs, website, etc.) required
  • Experience with or willingness to learn about consumer SaaS business models required
  • Experience with data modeling and ETL/ELT tools such as Fivetran, dbt, and Census or equivalent tools a plus
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform/BigQuery or equivalent platforms
  • Experience with customer data platforms (CDPs) such as Segment, Amplitude, or equivalent platforms
  • Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Capable of communicating complex information in an easy to understand format. Able to interact comfortably with cross functional leadership.
  • Ability to champion cross functional alignment on operational metric definitions, data hygiene, and data governance for reporting and analysis
  • This role is for doers; be able to get into the details and get the job done while at the same time being able to see the forest for the trees
  • Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization in remote, fast paced and a highly collaborative environment with a start-up mentality
  • Bachelor’s or Masters in Business, Math, Statistics, Economics or related technical field with appropriate coursework and experience required

Additional information:

  • This role is open to candidates in Los Angeles, San Francisco
  • In accordance with California law, the base salary range for this role if hired in Los Angeles is $110,000 - $160,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law
