The Role

This is a temporary position lasting 3 months with the potential to last longer. 

This role at Outrider will report to the Systems Engineering team. This onsite job at Outrider Headquarters in Brighton, CO requires you to be at the office 5 days a week. Your primary responsibility will involve overseeing the setup and execution of predefined test scenarios for the verification of the autonomous vehicle’s perception based safety system. The candidate will be required to work alongside the Test Operations team and provide the necessary guidance to ensure the scenario is set up and executed correctly. This role demands proficiency in attention to detail and communication, coupled with the flexibility to adapt in a fast-evolving work environment.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing Outrider's mission to drive the adoption of zero-emission, self-driving vehicles. They will have the opportunity to define, build, and lead a new category of robotic automation for the enterprise, making a significant impact on the future of transportation.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the setup and execution of test scenarios; providing guidance to the Test Operations as necessary to ensure data is collected correctly
  • Check data validity via python scripts and linux command line interface
  • Track and log daily test executions in an organized manner
  • Setup test assets on a daily basis, which could include GPS equipment and other mechanical devices
  • Be onsite at the Outrider Headquarters in Brighton, CO Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Required Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of linux operating system and command line interface
  • Strong communication skills and must be good working with a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in a test environment
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience with Google Suite and Jira
  • Experience, understanding, or willingness to learn GNSS systems

Ideal Qualifications

  • Any level of an Engineering degree
  • Experience testing automotive, aerospace, or robotic systems
  • Prior experience working on a team which required regular coordination and demonstration of leadership characteristics

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $29.10 - $48.98
  • Full health benefits
  • Actual compensation is based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, and specific work location due to differences in the cost of labor

Work Environment 

The work environment includes both an indoor office and warehouse setting located in Brighton, Colorado. In addition, this position involves regular work outside at the test site’s yard, resulting in regular exposure to hot and cold temperature and occasional exposure to loud noises. 

Physical Demands

  • The position requires the ability to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to remain in a seated, standing, or walking position, with the option to alternate between these as needed
  • Engage in tasks including operating a keyboard, basic tools, and other objects or software
  • Occasionally ascend and descend an autonomous vehicle
  • Communicate effectively, verbally or through other accessible means
  • Visually focus on tasks that require close detail
  • Occasionally lift items weighing up to 20-30 lbs
  • Occasionally walk to various points on the apron to support test scenario setup, with distances in excess of 0.5 mile/ day
  • Occasionally ascend to heights upwards of 14ft above the ground to install test equipment on test assets
  • Must be able and willing to work outside in varying weather conditions
