The Role
The Director of Software Quality & Efficiency will report to the Vice President of Software Engineering and will be responsible for ensuring that Outrider develops high quality software.
This position requires a deep background in autonomous vehicles and/or robotic systems technologies, an ability to quickly analyze behavior and performance of complex systems and formulate next steps, and an eagerness to work in a rapidly-changing environment and prioritize efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the integration, simulation, and DevOps/DevEx teams
- Spearhead the integration of the Outrider AV System
- Take charge of test-fix cycles, encompassing the creation of candidate builds, testing and analysis, issue triage, presentation of findings, and recommendations
- Collaborate across multiple teams including hardware, software, system safety, test operations, and test engineering
- Improve system integration processes, incorporating automation, to optimize the use of testing and customer deployment data and maximize efficiency
- Analyze and interpret system performance data to identify insights and drive effective improvements
- Develop and utilize simulation and offline testing to accelerate development and uncover quality issues
- Develop and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment processes
- Champion the adoption of tools and infrastructure across all areas through an excellent developer experience
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in robotics, computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline
- 10+ years of industry experience in developing enabling technologies for robotic systems
- Demonstrated experience developing software complex software systems
- Successful track record in full-lifecycle software development
- Demonstrated pedigree of troubleshooting large, complex systems composed of hardware and software
- Comfort with collaboratively working with multiple teams (e.g., software, hardware, systems, functional safety, test) to identify, understand, and resolve system issues
- Ability to develop, troubleshoot, and review C and C++ source code
- Experience with Jira, Git, Gitlab, or similar tools
- Excellent written and verbal communications; ability to explain complex concepts to colleagues across disciplines
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $180,000 - $250,000
- Equity: Significant equity package commensurate on experience and skills
