Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Medical Affairs is responsible for executing medical affairs initiatives that support strategic medical education, scientific communications, and KOL engagement. This role manages vendor relationships and coordinates internal contributors to ensure accurate and timely health care professional (HCP) engagement across multiple channels. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, the Senior Manager works cross-functionally with clinical, commercial, and marketing teams to align tactics with broader organizational goals and ensure medical initiatives uphold scientific integrity and compliance standards.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Builds and executes medical affairs programs that support scientific exchange, medical education, and HCP engagement.
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of KOL and advisory board activities, including logistics, content delivery, and follow-up communications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align medical affairs efforts with commercial, clinical, and marketing strategies.
- Manage relationships with external vendors, serving as a key point-of-contact for day-to-day medical affairs coordination and issue escalation.
- Oversee program timelines and vendor relationships to ensure timely, high-quality delivery of initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, marketing, and commercial teams to ensure alignment between medical affairs programs and organizational goals.
- Review and contribute to medical content, ensuring scientific accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Support the development and maintenance of internal medical affairs processes, tools, and documentation.
- Track and report key performance metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and communicate Medical Affairs' impact to leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent
- 5+ years of leadership in Medical Affairs with experience working with cross-functional in-house and field-based teams
- 5+ years of experience in the biotech, pharmaceutical, or med tech industry
- Strong knowledge of healthcare compliance regulations and industry standards
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field preferred, but not required
- Prior experience in a medical device or medtech company
- Functional knowledge of dialysis or the renal care space
National Salary Range (Remote)
$161,000 - $218,000 USD
SF Bay Area Salary Range
$179,000 - $242,000 USD
