Software Engineer, Infrastructure Lead
About Overland AI
Founded in 2022 and headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Overland AI is transforming land operations for modern defense. The company leverages over a decade of advanced research in robotics and machine learning, as well as a field-test forward ethos, to deliver combined capabilities for unit commanders. Our OverDrive autonomy stack enables ground vehicles to navigate and operate off-road in any terrain without GPS or direct operator control. Our intuitive OverWatch C2 interface provides commanders with precise coordination capabilities essential for mission success.
Overland AI has secured $42M in funding, including a Series A led by 8VC, and built trusted partnerships with DARPA, the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Special Operations Command. Backed by eight-figure contracts across the Department of Defense, we are strengthening national security by iterating closely with end users engaged in tactical operations.
We are looking for experienced software engineers to lead development of infrastructure systems and tools to support the growth and deployment of our autonomous fleet.
In this role, you will:
- Build and maintain a wide range of software infrastructure solutions, from Dev Ops to field site networking to post-event data management and analysis, as well as manage a small team of self-driven engineers doing the same.
- Be the owner of our field and development support infrastructure.
- Collaborate closely with other teams and team managers to improve development velocity, reliability, and performance of systems critical to development and demonstration of the next generation of off-road autonomy.
Qualifications
- Strong technical background: 6-10 years industry experience in production systems. You have experience integrating off-the-shelf solutions for a diverse range of domains, such as DevOps, low-reliability networks, or big data management, and building solutions where off-the-shelf options don’t quite match needs.
- Management background: You have experience managing and empowering a small team of motivated engineers, balancing and prioritizing multiple concurrent projects.
- Grit: You excel in a small-team atmosphere, taking ownership of problems and working with your colleagues to solve problems across disciplines.
- Field-test forward: At Overland AI, infrastructure doesn't end in the server room. We routinely deploy to exciting field locations in order to push the boundaries of off-road autonomy.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
- Ability to relocate to Seattle, WA.
