Software Engineer, Autonomy Frameworks
Overland AI builds intelligent uncrewed ground systems for defense and national security. Our autonomy stack, OverDrive, is defining the state-of-the-art for perception, planning, and control of uncrewed vehicles, enabling them to traverse and operate in any terrain, regardless of roads, in any condition. OverDrive was purpose-built for the warfighter. Through our work with DARPA and the U.S. Army, we are developing the intelligent capabilities necessary to power modern ground operations, now and for decades to come.
In a little over a year, the company has been selected for or awarded eight-figures of OTAs and other contracts across multiple services and DoD customers. We have raised over $10M in funding, led by a top multi-billion dollar AUM defense tech investor.
We are looking for experts in robotics to join our team to increase the reliability and aggressiveness of off-road autonomous vehicles.
In this role, you will:
- Develop robust frameworks for autonomous vehicle systems that streamline the creation of high-quality, efficient code.
- Establish and promote best practices for software development, driving team-wide adoption and adherence.
- Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of the entire autonomous system.
Qualifications
- Strong technical background: BS or MS in Computer Science or a similar field with 5+ years of industry experience in software development.
- Programming Skills: Expert knowledge of C++ and proficiency in Python. Previous experience developing software for safety-critical systems is a plus.
- Domain Knowledge: Strong knowledge of and experience with ROS2 and DDS. Knowledge of other pub/sub architectures and robotics middleware systems is beneficial.
- Grit: Thrive in a small-team environment, taking ownership of challenges and working collaboratively across disciplines to deliver solutions.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance.
