UX/UI Design Intern
OXOS Medical, Inc. empowers every provider with the capability, clarity, and confidence to make accurate decisions at the point of care. We are building new kinds of radiographic imaging devices that push the boundaries of previous solutions by improving image quality, reducing radiation exposure, improving ease of use, and building solutions to deliver care outside of traditional scenarios. We enable anyone anywhere to access radiologic diagnostics at the point of need, expanding availability and changing how healthcare is delivered.
In-Person Position
OXOS is searching for a paid UX/UI Design Intern to join our high growth company for the Summer of 2026. The ideal candidate will be joining a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team of passionate people who work daily to change the way radiographic diagnostics are delivered. With the FDA clearance of the highly anticipated MC2 Portable X-ray System, OXOS is working to increase the versatility and capabilities of MC2 through design improvements in workflow usability, and feature delivery.
In order to discover and execute development opportunities of these product developments, the Human Factors team leads early product development of OXOS products and solutions, from stakeholder coordination through user validation. This internship is a great opportunity for anyone skilled in UX/UI product development and interested in growing their design and development skills in the medical device industry.
This is preferably a full-time position, but part-time may be considered.
This position requires in-office presence.
Responsibilities
In this internship position, you will be responsible for assisting with the development of design changes and improvements to the software user interface of the MC2 X-ray system and OXOS Platform, a cloud-based, image management and sharing platform, including but not limited to:
- Map MC2 and OXOS Platform user journeys and develop workflow models for new and future customers and use cases.
- Perform comprehensive user interface design research, including competitive analysis, use environment research, and best practice review.
- Collaborate with product and software development teams to design and prototype frontend UX/UI solutions, adhering to usability heuristics and design guidelines.
- Conduct design assessments and usability testing with internal stakeholders, customers, and users.
- Maintain and update existing Usability and Human Factors documentation, such as Task Analysis, Use Specifications, and User Interface Specifications.
- Improve and update user manuals and training guides for both MC2 and OXOS Platform to benefit new and existing customers.
- Contribute to the continuous development of the OXOS design guidelines and Figma component library.
- Explore and implement AI-enabled processes for modification of Figma designs and translation to product source code.
With multi-faceted engineering development in a small company, there may be situations where it will be necessary to step outside the above bounds of the position and contribute in other ways. It is the goal of OXOS management to keep these scenarios to a minimum, but may be expected in such a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong experience with Figma design suite, including prototyping and reusable component use for design development and translation to usable software frontend designs.
- Experience in user journey mapping and wireframe prototyping for early development and design review with technical teams.
- Previous UX/UI Design or software product development experience. A portfolio of past design experience will be requested.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate and defend design rationale clearly and effectively to both technical (software developers) and non-technical (clinical, marketing) stakeholders.
- Technical writing and documentation skills.
- People skills for communicating with various stakeholders and customers.
- Good work ethic and highly motivated to learn.
