What you’ll do 

We’re seeking a highly motivated and mission-driven professional to play a transformative role in supporting our defense tech portfolio companies. This position is designed for someone with 6-12 years of experience, ideally with a background in national security, defense, and/or defense tech. You will build and activate high-impact support functions that help our portfolio companies thrive in the national security and defense ecosystem. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Driving Connectivity: Facilitate meaningful connections between portfolio companies and key national security stakeholders.
  • Coordinating High-Value Support: Coordinate support on business development, talent, and other areas, ensuring the right resources are available to companies at the right time. Work with investors and advisors to identify and implement new capabilities and programs that address critical gaps.
  • Solving Dynamic Problems: Tackle complex challenges as they arise, leveraging your resourcefulness, network, and creativity to deliver solutions that move the needle for our companies. Be highly responsive to asks and give constant leverage to our investors.
  • Organizing Strategic Engagements: Plan and execute targeted events, workshops, and sessions with national security leaders and other stakeholders to foster collaboration and drive impact. Identify opportunities to build a closer community across our portfolio through shared experiences and initiatives.
  • Championing Portfolio Companies: Deliver an exceptional end-to-end founder experience that builds trust and strengthens relationships. Advocate for portfolio companies by amplifying their news, needs, and asks across our network.

 

What’s required

We’re looking for someone who thrives in dynamic environments and is passionate about supporting founders in their mission to solve critical national security challenges. You should have expertise in one or more areas relevant to defense tech startups, such as business development/capture, government relations, or talent acquisition. For areas outside your expertise, you must be eager to learn quickly and leverage your network and tools to deliver impactful results. Success means your involvement measurably accelerates outcomes for our portfolio companies, and our founders view you as an indispensable partner in their journey. 

You will report to our Head of Portfolio and collaborate closely with our founders, defense tech investors, and other platform team members, including our Events Lead. This position is based in Washington, DC, and requires working from our office at least four days per week. Occasional travel is expected. This is not an investment-track position.

The annual base salary range for this role is $150,000 to $200,000 (USD) , which does not include discretionary bonus compensation or our comprehensive benefits package. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things.
