About Pacific Fusion
Pacific Fusion was founded in 2023 with the mission to power the world with abundant, affordable, clean energy.
We are rapidly designing and building a pulsed magnetic fusion system to achieve net facility gain (more fusion energy output than stored energy input). In parallel, we are developing the key components required to build affordable fusion systems.

We are bringing together the best scientists, engineers, and operators from the fusion community, hard tech industry, and other sectors. Why This Role Matters
Pacific Fusion’s experimental group is developing the scientific diagnostics that will enable testing and improving our fusion targets on our Demonstration System in order to demonstrate facility gain for the first time. These diagnostics measure the nuclear, x-ray, and optical outputs of a fusion target. This role will work hand and hand with our scientists developing synthetic data generation and analysis software for our diagnostics.
What You'll Do
- Write software to generate synthetic outputs from a fusion target simulation
- Develop novel analysis methods for different kinds of expected diagnostic data
What You Bring
- Programming experience
- Experience with interpreting data, e.g. from lab courses or previous research/internships
Additional Requirements:
- Able to work full time, onsite for a minimum of 10 consecutive weeks beginning in June 2026
Bonus Points For
- Experience programming in python
- Previous experience with Monte Carlo simulation tools
- 6+ months of a previous internship, co-op, or academic project experience outside of normal classes
- GPA of 3.5 or above

Actual base salary offered will be determined by: experience, skills, and work location. This range is for base salary, our total compensation includes equity and benefits. We welcome you to apply even if your expectations are outside our listed range.
