Paralegal

Work from Anywhere in the U.S.

You: You’re a sharp, reliable, and experienced legal professional who thrives in an environment where precision, trust, and ethics matter. You take pride in doing things the right way, not cutting corners, and you bring a calm, organized presence to complex litigation. You’re comfortable taking ownership of your tasks, managing deadlines independently, and supporting experienced attorneys who expect excellence and professionalism.

You’re adaptable and curious, especially about tools and technology. Whether it’s mastering e-discovery platforms, leveraging AI tools to work smarter, or keeping documents and filings airtight, you recognize strong legal support as essential to winning cases. You value collaboration, respect, and clear communication—and you want to work alongside attorneys who know their craft and treat others well.

Them: Bureaucrats, city councils, mayors, governors, and federal agencies strip Americans of their rights every day. There’s a lot of government overreach out there, and it’s backed by seemingly endless resources. But fortunately, like all lumbering giants, abusive government is most vulnerable when countered by individuals who act strategically and nimbly, take calculated risks, have each other’s backs, and are confident in and passionate for the cause—the very sort of swashbucklers we employ in spades here at PLF.

Us: We fight back. Pacific Legal Foundation is the nation’s first and most successful public interest law firm dedicated to vindicating individual liberty. PLF has an unmatched record in the United States Supreme Court, with 18 victories out of 20 cases litigated at the Court. We also have more than two hundred active cases across the nation.

We are a next-generation public interest law firm. What does “next-generation” mean for a legal nonprofit? It means we aren’t interested in doing the same thing as everyone else. We aspire to be the best player in a constantly changing game.

Here’s what you get to do in this role:

As PLF continues to grow, we are scaling our litigation efforts nationwide. This role ensures our attorneys receive strong, reliable, and highly organized litigation support so they can focus on winning cases that defend individual liberty.

You will serve as a critical litigation partner to a team of experienced attorneys, helping manage the details that keep cases moving. From trial preparation to filings to document management, your work will ensure nothing falls through the cracks and that our legal work reflects the professionalism and precision PLF is known for.

You won’t be micromanaged; you will be trusted to own your responsibilities, communicate proactively, and flag issues early. This role is for someone who values accountability, independence, and collaboration equally.

Getting down to brass tacks, your specific job duties likely will include:

  • Supporting trial preparation and litigation logistics
  • Managing e-filing in state and federal courts
  • Preparing, updating, and maintaining Tables of Authorities and other legal documents
  • Conducting legal research using Westlaw and LexisNexis
  • Supporting e-discovery efforts and working within PLF’s e-discovery platform
  • Drafting, formatting, and organizing documents using Microsoft Word (heavy use)
  • Taking ownership of assigned tasks and seeing them through independently
  • Traveling occasionally, as needed, on a case-by-case basis (approximately 5–10%)

This role is ideal for you if:

  • You bring 10+ years of experience as a paralegal or in a litigation support role
  • You are highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable
  • You’re comfortable working independently without constant oversight
  • You take pride in accuracy, ethics, and professionalism
  • You adapt easily to new tools, systems, and workflows
  • You’re comfortable supporting multiple attorneys and managing competing priorities
  • You’re energized by supporting mission-driven litigation that defends individual liberty
  • A paralegal certificate is a plus, but not required
