Position Summary
The Director of Finance is the functional leader of the accounting and finance team, responsible for the day-to-day oversight of multi-state, multi-site operations in all locations and the Dealership Support Center (DSC). The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is a member of the executive leadership team, providing accurate reporting and clear financial strategy leading to data-driven decision making. The Director of Finance directs a high-performing team, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial operations; this position owns the company-wide budgeting and forecasting process, accounts payable and receivable, and all financial functions within the organization. The Director of Finance must demonstrate the Packard Culligan Water values of Accountability, Open-Mindedness and Caring About Relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Finance and Accounting Operations Leadership (30%)

  • Provide leadership and accountability for all day-to-day accounting and finance operations, ensuring work is completed accurately and on time by members of the team.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close, general ledger and reconciliations, accounts payable and accounts receivable, cash flow and banking, and commissions processing, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and processing.
  • Establish clear processes, controls, and accountability supporting independent and consistent execution of tasks and responsibilities of the finance and accounting team.
  • Grow and develop members of the finance and accounting team through career goals, support, and succession planning.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex or high-risk finance and accounting matters.

Data Strategy and Insight (20%)

  • Contribute to the company's financial data strategy, ensuring a single source of truth for financial information.
  • Prioritize and interpret data requests, ensuring the team delivers meaningful analysis, forecasts, and modeling to guide business decisions.
  • Champion automation and process improvement to reduce manual work and improve efficiency and accuracy.

Budgeting, Forecasting, and Financial Planning (20%)

  • Own and lead the annual budgeting process for all franchises and the Dealership Support Center budget.
  • Direct the finance and accounting team's ongoing forecasting, modeling, and variance analysis to support operational and executive decisions.
  • Deliver timely, meaningful insights on trends, leading indicators, and financial performance to the leadership team.

Compliance, Audit, and Controls (15%)

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure the external audit process is well managed by members of the finance and accounting team, providing oversight, direction and support.
  • Ensure finance and accounting team compliance on sales and use tax in all operating states.
  • Uphold and enforce internal controls and data integrity across all finance and accounting functions.

Financial Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) (10%)

  • Ensure accuracy with financial data reporting, supporting ERP in the general ledger through financial systems and controls, providing oversight to the finance and accounting teams.
  • Partner with the Director of Technology and members of the leadership team to support ERP processes for financial configuration and data integrity.

Other Duties, As Assigned (5%)

  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

Technology Skills:

  • Strong skills needed in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Must be proficient in using computer programs, software, and systems.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in finance and accounting
  • Minimum 5 years’ progressive management of finance and/or accounting teams
  • Proven experience running finance and accounting operations, including close, GL, AP/AR, and cash management, at an oversight level.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling skills.
  • Experience with external audit and multi-state sales and use tax.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems on financials and general ledgers.
  • Strong leadership presence and the ability to communicate and work with a cross-functional executive leadership team
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to advise executive leadership.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Problem-solving, ethical conduct, and time management skills required

Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass a background check, drug test, and Motor Vehicle Check.
  • CPA preferred, not required
    • This position is based in Minnetonka, MN and is not a remote position.

Pay Range

$168,000 - $210,000 USD
