About Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC)

Following 9/11, the community and civic planning process that resulted in the World Trade Center master plan in 2003 envisioned a new performing arts center as one of the anchors of the site. The Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC) opened in the Fall of 2023 realizing that plan and becoming the new home for emergent and established artists in theater, dance, music, opera, and multi-disciplinary performance from New York and the world in downtown Manhattan.

The role

The Director of Information Technology (IT) provides strategic vision and operational leadership for all information technology systems at PAC NYC. This is an in-person role that oversees the planning, implementation, and support of enterprise IT Systems to enhance operational efficiency, service quality, and business development. The IT Director is responsible for both strategic direction and hands-on management of core technologies, including, CRM/ticketing systems, transactional systems, networking, digital signage, cybersecurity and including the PAC NYC’s digital products (e.g., website).

The IT Director works closely with other department heads to identify how the application of information technology can best serve their business needs. They develop internal and cross-departmental procedures to ensure efficient and reliable use of IT systems. The IT Director manages the Information Technology team and ensures delivery of excellent IT support to staff and world class customer technology experience to PAC NYC audiences.

Key responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Lead IT strategic and operational planning to achieve business goals by fostering innovation, prioritizing IT initiatives, and coordinating the evaluation, deployment, and management of current and future IT systems across the organization
  • Establish and maintain an appropriate IT organizational structure that supports the needs of the business 
  • Develop IT department goals, roadmaps, and operational procedures.
  • Identify opportunities for the appropriate and cost-effective investment of financial resources in IT systems and resources, including staffing, sourcing, purchasing, and in-house development
  • Assess and communicate risks associated with IT investments
  • Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives
  • Assess and make recommendations on the improvement of the IT organization

Acquisition & Deployment

  • Coordinate and facilitate consultation with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations
  • Approve, prioritize, and control projects as they relate to the selection, acquisition, development, and deployment of major information systems
  • Review hardware and software acquisition and maintenance contracts
  • Define and communicate plans, policies, and standards for the organization for acquiring, implementing, and operating IT systems
  • Manage information technology procurement, review and negotiate contracts

Operational Management

  • Ensure continuous delivery of IT services through oversight of service level agreements with end users and monitoring of IT systems performance
  • Ensure IT system operation adheres to applicable laws and regulations
  • Ensure continuous operations of customer facing ticketing and payment systems, including on site operations and website performance, particularly during high volume and on sale times
  • Keep current with trends and issues in the IT industry, including current technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate senior staff on their competitive or financial impact
  • Supervise recruitment, development, retention, and organization of all IT staff in accordance with organizational budgetary objectives and personnel policies
  • Manage day to day IT support operations, maintain reliable response times and customer satisfaction by leveraging the reporting and automation functions of the IT support platform
  • Encourage, review and assist the IT staff with writing documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Provide regular updates to the Operations team, and quarterly reports on IT Department’s performance, including tracking of quantitative service metrics

Technical Foundations

  • IT infrastructure acumen and experience including but not limited to network operations, virtualization, group policies, mobile devices management, directory services
  • Security technology acumen and experience including but not limited to proper implementation of firewalls, intrusion detection, cyber-attack tools and defenses, web filtering, endpoint security, managed detection and response, anti-phishing, identity and access management,
  • Web infrastructure fundamentals, including but not limited to cloud services, proper DNS configurations, leveraging of APIs and management of outside web developers
  • Deep familiarity with CRM and ticketing systems used in the performing arts and their business applications, including integrations with other business applications (e.g. email marketing, analytics, accounting systems, etc.) and other PAC NYC business units including restaurant, retail and event rentals
  • Strong familiarity with payment processing systems and their integration with web and in person payment methods
  • Strong knowledge and experience with on-site customer facing technologies including but not limited to digital signage, ticket scanners and ticket printers, credit card terminals, captive WiFi systems

Security

  • Compliance, disaster recovery planning and testing, auditing, risk management, business resumption planning, and contingency planning is important.
  • Secure and effective access controls, multi factor authentication implementation, password management, email security and staff training (phishing, social engineering, etc.)
  • Familiarity with information security standards (e.g., NIST, ISO, OWASP, etc.), rules and regulations related to information security and confidentiality (e.g., PCI) and other various security standards and policies
  • A proven track record in developing information security policies, privacy policies, and procedures, and their successful execution
  • Extensive knowledge of business risk, risk assessment and risk-based decision making

What it takes to be successful in the role:

  • 10 years' experience in IT or a related field, including 5+ years in IT leadership. 
  • Proven ability in IT strategic planning, systems design, and project execution. 
  • Strong understanding of business processes, budgeting, hardware platforms, enterprise software, and outsourced systems. 
  • Good understanding of computer systems characteristics, features, and integration capabilities. 
  • Experience with systems design and development from business requirements analysis through to day-to-day management 
  • Excellent understanding of project management principles 
  • Demonstrated ability to apply IT in solving business problems 
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable laws and regulations as they relate to IT 
  • Ability to effectively lead, manage, and develop a team, creating an inclusive and collaborative environment where individuals can thrive and succeed
  • Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously 
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaborations skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, keen attention to detail and strong negotiating skills 
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language 
  • Superior analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities 
  • Passion for the performing arts and alignment with PAC NYC’s mission. 

Compensation and benefits

Annual salary will range between $140k - $170k plus full benefits. Our benefits package include health, dental, vision, life, accidental death and dismemberment and disability benefits, and self-insured dental, vision and health care and dependent day care flexible spending accounts. Full time employees are eligible for paid time off and 401K enrollment with employer match.
