About Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC)

Following 9/11, the community and civic planning process that resulted in the World Trade Center master plan in 2003 envisioned a new performing arts center as one of the anchors of the site. The Perelman Performing Arts Center (PAC NYC) opened in the Fall of 2023. Within its three flexible and intimate performance spaces, PAC NYC produces and presents multiple projects in theatre, dance, music and chamber opera. Across each season, we seek to celebrate life and to affirm community in our location at the World Trade Center.

The role

Reporting to the Director of Producing, the Producer who will be an integral part of a small Artistic team responsible for programming PAC NYC’s artistic season. As a multi-disciplinary arts space, the Producer will be responsible for line producing across PAC NYC’s dynamic range of productions, including theatrical runs, new commissions, curated festivals, artist residencies, and free public and community programming. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual who is excited to be part of building a new organization, passionate about the performing arts, and believes in the power of the arts to contribute to civic healing and dialogue.  

Your key responsibilities

  • Facilitate the creative management of PAC NYC projects at varying points in their artistic process from conception to presentation. 
  • Manage day-to-day logistics, coordinate meetings, and represent the PAC NYC producing team, as required, with respect to productions under your purview.
  • Manage the needs of artists/ companies and serve as a primary liaison between producing department and administration and finance, marketing and development, production, company management, and front of house.
  • Line produce additional artistic programs, special events, and civic engagement programs, as assigned.
  • Work with General Management and Production teams to support needs of artists/ companies and productions, including travel and housing, and hospitality.
  • Track artistic budget expenses, payment of invoices to artists / companies.
  • Be responsible for the intake of artist material for delivery to the marketing and press department and provide input to the copy and editing process of marketing materials with respect to productions under your purview.
  • Represent the Artistic team at rehearsals, production meetings, technical rehearsals, and performances, as required.
  • Research potential artists and make recommendations to Artistic leadership regarding future programming.
  • Be part of building and strengthening equitable producing practices that uphold artistic integrity and are consistent with PAC NYC’s mission.

What it takes to be successful in the role

  • 5+ years of producing or production management experience.
  • A track record of working across performing arts genres/ disciplines, including theater, dance, opera and/or music. Experience in producing in theater is a plus.
  • Basic tech knowledge: ability to read tech riders to work with Production Managers
  • Extremely organized and has the ability to plan, implement, and prioritize between multiple projects, with efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, budgeting, scheduling, and executing projects.
  • Thrives in a hands-on, dynamic and fast-paced environment; able to take own initiative to work independently and collaboratively with other team members. 
  • Excellent and diplomatic communicator experienced in working with a diverse group of artists and constituencies. Strong written and presentation skills are a must. 
  • Empathetic relationship builder with the ability and commitment to work with people and teams from diverse backgrounds.  
  • Nimble, creative, resourceful approach to problem solving in all stages of production. Ability to anticipate and diagnose problems/ issues and communicate to relevant departments.
  • Flexible and open to change. Demonstrated ability to adapt to new systems. 
  • Strong skills in the Microsoft Office suite, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and a facility in learning new programs and systems.(e.g. Asana , Airtable)
  • Ability and willingness to work a robust programming schedule, with the capacity to work some nights, weekends and holidays in support of performance and event schedules.

Compensation and benefits

Annual salary will range between $92,000 - $97,000 plus full benefits. Our benefits package include health, dental, vision, life, accidental death and dismemberment and disability benefits, and health care and dependent day care flexible spending accounts. Full time employees are eligible for paid time off, 401K enrollment with employer match, an annual professional development stipend and support through Carrot Fertility.
