About Position
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Product Manager to join our team. In the BNPL Domain, we seamlessly provide Paidy’s core services, spanning Checkout, Installments, Settlement, and Account prioritizing best-in-class UX, reliable performance, and ongoing benefits for sustained growth and satisfaction of consumers and merchants. The Product Manager will play an integral part in the Business Domain reporting directly to the Vice President of the BNPL Domain, by steering initiatives from defining requirements to optimization. Product Managers at Paidy are passionate about the products we build, the consumers we serve, and our business. The team is committed to doing our best work, building and managing the products that comprise the Paidy service, to attack the “mendokusai (hassle)” pain points of online payments for both buyers and sellers.
The Product Manager at Paidy takes a strategic view to align product performance and optimization with the domain KPIs. They are responsible for driving development and execution that make the Domain vision a reality, making life better for buyers and sellers.
The Product Manager will act as a product evangelist and internal ambassador for the Business Domain, investing time in ensuring the product strategy is clearly articulated and effectively communicated at all levels across the organization.

Key Role and Responsibilities
Your role in Product at Paidy is simple - to be the best Product Manager you can be.
As the Product Manager, you will lead cross-functional teams and drive the delivery of a product/initiative/feature. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1. Define requirements and potential risks
a. Establish and formalize the technical and product requirements in a clear detailed manner based on business needs outlined by Domain Lead (VP). This necessitates close collaboration with key stakeholders such as the Engineering Lead, QA, and UX Lead/Designers. The Product Manager will also support the Domain Lead in generating innovative concepts to drive business domain expansion, leveraging their subject matter expertise in product
2. Oversee feature/product development, integration, and optimization after the launch
a. Work closely with all key stakeholders during development and execution to ensure successful delivery of the initiative
b. Track and analyze key performance metrics to measure the success of product initiatives and drive continuous improvement
3. Facilitate communications between business and Engineering/UX teams
a. Ensure that business needs and requirements are ‘translated’ so that execution teams (primarily Engineering and UX) can act upon those swiftly and effectively throughout the product development phases
b. Ensure that technical aspects of the initiative (including potential risks and bottlenecks) are communicated to the Business in a way that allows them to make decisions or adjustments in business requirements/priorities as needed
Skills and Requirements
Technical Skills:
● 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in Product Management in financial services, fintech, retail, banking, or payments
● Passion and knowledge of consumer-facing products and mobile applications
● Demonstrated history of defining, designing, building, and refining products through industry standard best practices
● The ability to break down a product into sets of features that can be delivered incrementally
● Experience designing and conducting A/B tests to optimize product features and user experiences
● Strong understanding of different software development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and their tradeoffs
● Experience with web/mobile analytics and user behavior analysis (f.e. using tools like Mixpanel or Google Analytics). This includes the ability to track, analyze, and interpret user engagement and interactions on web or mobile applications and interpret complex data to inform product decisions and strategy
Business/Communication Skills:
● Excellent presentation skills. The candidate can present to engineers, data analysts, and C-level in concise, fluent English to gain support for product ideas; the candidate can adapt their language and style to the audience
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
● Extremely curious and bright, problem solver with a strong bias for action and collaboration, coupled with strong critical thinking skills
● Strong quantitative skills and an innate understanding of how to mix market intelligence
Language Requirements:
● Excellent English technical writing and speaking ability
● Fluency in Japanese (above N2) is a plus
Educational Background:
● University degree
Preferred Experience:
● Postgraduate degree a big plus; MBA preferred
● Ability to read and understand software architecture diagrams; working knowledge of cloud technologies, microservice architectures
● Ability to think and define service behaviors in terms of APIs
● Familiarity with some data analysis tools and languages such as spreadsheets, SQL, R, and Python
● Experience launching new products and services
