About Position |
Paidy is looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Legal Counsel / Legal Counsel. The successful candidate will be expected to provide solutions, drive business, and contribute to business judgments by handling legal issues in corporate, commercial, product, and regulatory areas. The candidate should be ready and enthusiastic to understand and help solve complex and cutting edge problems within Paidy. This position will be expected to collaborate with cross-functional departments, such as Compliance, Privacy, Product, Sales, Operations and HR . Communication skills in English will be a must. The candidate will also participate in discussions with a wider PayPal legal community regarding any group integration tasks. In addition to the above responsibilities for Paidy, Inc., the candidate may also be assigned tasks for PayPal Japan. |
Key Role & Responsibilities |
Corporate Legal ● Administrate Board of Directors and Shareholders Meeting. ● Review and draft internal rules and regulations ● Collaborate with HR to handle employment matters
Commercial Legal ● Review and draft commercial contracts with large merchants ● Provide advice on marketing activities
Product Legal ● Work with Product to define the specifications for new services ● Review new product design
Regulatory Legal ● Represent the company for communications with the regulator and regulatory inspections (if any) ● Monitor regulatory developments and work with Compliance and Privacy to update the company wide operations
Group Integration ● Participate in discussions with a wider PayPal Legal community regarding any legal integration tasks ● A portion of the position’s workload may be dedicated to PayPal Japan, depending on the needs of the business. |
Skills & Requirements |
Must ● Attorney at law qualified in Japan ● 4-9 years of work experience for Legal Counsel role, and 7-12 years of work experience for Senior Legal Counsel role ● Ability to communicate and collaborate cross-functionally, manage stakeholders, lead projects ● Strong educational and/or occupational background in legal ● Native-level Japanese ● Business-level English Nice to have ● Work experience in government relations and/or in-house legal. ● Work experience in a legal role at financial institutions or IT company is a plus.
