Head of PR

About Position 

We're looking for an experienced public relations professional to join us to further boost our presence and momentum in Japan, ultimately contributing to business growth. 

In this role, we seek a PR professional who enjoys managing and growing relationships with internal and external partners and is comfortable owning the full life cycle of PR projects from strategy to execution. The preferred candidate must know how to develop and implement strategies and effective PR programs that help address Paidy’s business and brand goals - oftentimes as part of holistic comms/marketing/engagement efforts.

This position will be based at Paidy's Office in Tokyo, Japan. Please note that you must be eligible to work in Japan by holding valid working rights.

Key Role and Responsibilities

The key objectives of this role are to lead and shape the PR activities for Paidy in order to nurture a positive public perception of the brand/business amongst key stakeholders, e.g. customers, merchant partners, general public, contributing to brand and business growth. Specifically;

  • Develop Paidy’s annual and long-term Consumer PR strategy and execute it in collaboration with internal teams/resources (Marketing, Visual Design etc.) as well as external agencies 
  • Continue to raise the profile of Paidy within the marketplace and prospects through strategic media opportunities, contents, and working with partners. 
  • Influence key stakeholders (media, prospects etc.) around strategically important topics that help brand/business growth
  • Initiate, cultivate and maintain relationships with key media and journalists that would lead to quality organic exposure
  • Manage sensitive issues to sustain the reputation of the company in collaboration with the HQ and other key stakeholders (e.g. Legal, Compliance)
  • Represent the Paidy brand amongst both internal and external constituents as necessary

Skills and Requirements

  • 8-10 years of PR experience, with a proven track record of building and sustaining a positive public image of the brand and business, ultimately contributing to business growth
  • Proven track record of effectively leveraging owned, earned and paid media to achieve brand and business goals
  • Ability to represent the Paidy brand amongst both internal and external constituents with credibility and stature 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English  coupled with tactful interpersonal skills
  • Ability to think, prioritize, plan and execute strategically and tactically
  • Intellectually curious
  • Enjoys to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment, independently as well as cross-functionally
