Director of Revenue Cycle Management
About Pair Team
Pair Team is a public benefit company reimagining care for the safety net. As an AI-enabled medical group for Medicaid and Medicare, we deliver medical, behavioral, and social care by integrating shelters, pantries and other community-based organizations into our whole-person model. As California’s largest complex care provider, we’ve proven our impact to reduce avoidable emergency care, including a 52% and 26% reduction in ER visits and hospitalizations respectively. Once scaled nationally, our approach would save tax payers $150B per year.
With our years of experience and vast data collected, we are now building an AI platform that embeds social work agents across the safety net to truly unify our fragmented healthcare and welfare system. By scaling our country’s frontline medical and social services workforce, we aim to bring high-touch care to everyone.
At Pair Team, we’re not just delivering care—we’re transforming it. We’re building a future where high-touch, community-driven care is accessible to everyone, especially the most underserved.

About the Opportunity
As a Director of Revenue Cycle Management at Pair Team, you will play a critical role in building the RCM function that allows our technology-enabled service to improve healthcare access and outcomes for underserved communities. You will own RCM end to end — from eligibility and authorization through claims, denials, and collections — across Medicaid andMedicare. and other service lines. This is a hands on, build-it-yourself role for someone who can both set RCM strategy and get into the claims data themselves to find and fix collection gaps. You'll build the team, systems, and processes that let RCM scale alongside a fast-growing, mission-driven company.
This is a fully remote position reporting up to the VP of Finance and BizOps.
What You’ll Do
- Own the RCM function end to end across Medicaid and Medicare — from eligibility and authorization through claims, denials, and collections.
- Lead RCM strategy: team building, hiring/managing RCM staff, KPI development and reporting, and cross-functional collaboration with operations, product, and engineering to build supporting tooling and processes.
- Run deep analysis on claims data to identify gaps, drive remediation with cross-functional stakeholders, and improve collection rate and DSO.
- Manage patient billing and coinsurance collection processes
- Own denial management and appeals, driving down rejection and denial rates.
- Centralize eligibility verification, authorizations, and payer reporting under RCM.
- Work directly with payers and provider groups to remediate claims issues and manage payer reporting relationships.
- Partner with Finance on revenue reconciliation, cash application, and collections reporting.
- Ensure compliance with Medicaid and Medicare billing requirements.
- Select, implement, and optimize RCM systems to support multi-program billing and scale with growth.
- Build scalable, automated processes suited to a fast-moving startup.
What You’ll Need
- 8+ years of progressive Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) experience, with end-to-end ownership across eligibility/enrollment, charge capture, coding, claims submission, denials management, and collections.
- Deep, hands-on knowledge of Medicaid and Medicare billing across the full revenue cycle, ideally including FFS, risk-based arrangements, and other healthcare billing structures.
- Experience building and leading teams in a high-growth, early-stage startup.
- Highly analytical and self-sufficient: able to independently query and dig into claims data (no dependency on a separate analytics team), generate insights, and use them to drive collection rate improvements.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across finance, accounting, operations, product, and engineering.
- Experience implementing RCM solutions such as Candid, Waystar, etc.
- Ownership mindset: drives results for the mission, business, and customer experience.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, complex, low-red-tape early-stage environment.
- Passion for serving individuals with complex chronic needs, including homelessness, severe mental illness, and substance use disorder.
Our Values
- Lead with integrity: We keep our commitments and take responsibility for our actions. We are dependable and choose authenticity over perfection.
- Embrace challenges: We leave our egos at the door and step forward into discomfort instead of back into safety. We help each other to learn and provide feedback using candor and kindness.
- Break through walls: We go the extra mile for our patients, partners and one another, and we run toward hard things. We are resilient in our push for consistent improvement and challenge the status quo.
- Act beyond yourself: We build each other up and respect boundaries. We seek first to understand and assume positive intent.
- Care comes first: We hold ourselves to the highest standards for our patients. We are relentless in the pursuit of our mission, and ensure that we are taking care of ourselves in order to care for others.
Because We Value You

- Remote-first with equipment and $100/mo home office stipend
