Summary of Role
As a Manager of Engineering at Palmetto, you will be responsible for leading a multi-dimensional engineering team overseeing the full software development life cycle of our Palmetto Finance LightReach platform. In this leadership role, you will guide the team in developing innovative technologies that ensure the platform not only meets the current market demands but also sets the stage for long-term growth. Your leadership will foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, efficiency, and continuous improvement, ensuring the team is aligned with both technical excellence and business objectives. You will have a direct impact on delivering solutions that enhance partner experiences and meet market demands.

 

Strategic & Tactical

  • Lead and manage a team of engineers and related personnel, overseeing the planning, development, and execution of critical projects with an eye on both strategic goals and operational efficiency.
  • Develop strategic plans for the engineering department to ensure alignment with the company’s business objectives and market competitiveness.
  • Foster innovation and streamline overall engineering processes to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product management, design, and other departments to define technical requirements and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance on both technical and career growth, while promoting a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture.
  • Maintain high standards of software quality by establishing best practices, code reviews, and process improvements to ensure scalability, stability, and reliability.
  • Analyze and improve the efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources.
  • Manage and optimize infrastructure assets to satisfy internal financial targets while delivering technical excellence.
  • Provide leadership in technical discussions and ensure solutions are aligned with broader organizational goals.
  • Report operational status and team progress to executive management, providing insight into both successes and opportunities for growth.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5+ years of engineering experience, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role managing technical teams.
  • Strong technical acumen with experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
  • Recognized technical expertise in at least one discipline (e.g., MERN stack), with proficiency in multiple technologies and awareness of industry best practices.
  • Proven track record of leading the delivery of large-scale engineering projects and aligning engineering efforts with strategic business needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and management skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and to lead advanced technical personnel.
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
  • Demonstrable ability to motivate, support, and understand different engineering teams and individuals.
  • Excellent project management skills, with a strong ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and ensure team alignment with business objectives.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and technology landscape, including competitors and market trends.
