Summary

As an Operations Specialist, your primary focus is to support the critical fulfillment functions of our operation in PIttsburgh. You will report to the Design team lead, and are ultimately responsible for supporting design and engineering oversight of our third party vendors. In addition to supporting design functions, you will also play a supporting role in the permitting, interconnection, financial operations, and customer operations of our Pittsburgh location. This position requires a dynamic individual who is willing to jump in wherever they are needed to facilitate the execution of projects throughout their life cycle. You will play a key role in supporting the long term growth and ongoing success of the Pittsburgh location.

 

The Operations Specialist must also build strong bridges internally at Palmetto, as you will work closely with several cross-functional teams including Field Operations, Financial Operations, and Project Managers to create a world class customer experience. 

 

Success Defined:

  • Facilitate the consistent execution of each solar fulfillment stage as it aligns with the expected SLA
  • Consistently and successfully support the fulfillment requirements for design and engineering, permitting, interconnection, and financial operations
  • Adapt to the evolving needs of the operations team dependent upon the volume or any identified bottlenecks within the fulfillment process
  • Successfully manage our third party vendor network across design and engineering, permitting, and interconnection to meet our expected SLAs
  • Ensure all licensing requirements in each active AHJ are up to date and accurately tracked




Strategic Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the design and engineering team to ensure successful execution of all required design and engineering fulfillment tasks
  • Routinely meet with the General Manager to identify areas of the fulfillment process that require additional support 
  • Review reporting for each fulfillment stage and take ownership of executing any work required for SLA improvement
  • Work in a supportive role to the permitting, interconnection, project management, and financial operations teams
  • When necessary, take direct ownership of a fulfillment stage to ensure projects continue to progress through the fulfillment process
  • Meet with design, permitting, and interconnection vendors to ensure SLAs are met
  • Identify any potential changes in design, permitting, or interconnection requirements as indicated by either the local AHJ or our internal operations team
  • Support the design change process when on-site design changes are required

 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of experience in Solar Operations, Account Management, Customer Experience, or similar fulfillment specific roles including design and engineering, permitting, interconnection, inspections, or financial operations.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and coordinating execution requirements
  • Successful track record managing multiple accounts and business relationships
  • Ability to successfully engage with external parties and international operations 
  • Experience solving complex problems with diplomacy
  • Demonstrated relationship building/client management skills
  • Proven work experience collaborating across multiple internal and external teams
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage numerous concurrent priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strategic and innovative mindset
  • Team player with attention to detail
  • Must be comfortable working in a nimble, fast paced environment
  • Preferred - past experience with the construction industry, ideally a solar or clean energy company

 

Location

  • This is a remote position, though can operate on site.
