Summary of Role
A Staff Tax Accountant focused on helping the tax team with compliance items including clean energy investment tax credit (ITC) registrations, tracking and accurately recording IRS Clean Energy ITC-related transactions, monitoring and responding to jurisdictional tax inquiries, and assisting in the preparation of related financial reports and tax documents. This position will work under the supervision of a Senior Tax Manager or Tax Director, focusing on day-to-day financial record-keeping and reporting.
Strategic & Tactical
- ITC Transaction Processing:
Accurately record and track all transactions related to IRS Clean Energy investment tax credits, including project information, ITC claims, and related payments.
- Communication coordination:
Monitor tax compliance email inbox and letters to route to the appropriate party for resolution. Respond to inquiries with solutions and status updates.
- Compliance:
Ensure all ITC-related activities comply with applicable regulations and accounting standards (GAAP).
- Tax Document Preparation:
Assist in the preparation of tax documents and reports related to ITC claims, working with the tax team as needed.
- Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of financial reports and statements that incorporate ITC-related information.
- Data Integrity:
Verify data integrity in accounting systems related to ITC transactions.
- Collaboration:
Collaborate with other departments, including accounting, capital markets, and project data teams to ensure smooth and accurate ITC processing.
- Process Improvement:
Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and improve ITC-related processes.
- Special Projects:
Assist with other special projects as assigned by the Tax team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and tax regulations related to investment tax credits.
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with tax software and tools is a plus.
