This position will be based remotely in the US.

Summary of Role 

The Sr. Director, Data & Analytics will shape how Palmetto uses data and machine learning to make clean energy more affordable, accessible, and intelligent.  This role will harness the power of data to deliver transformative insights and solutions that drive business and product growth and impact.  Leading Palmetto’s Data Center of Excellence, the Sr. Director will own global data strategy and governance, enable company-wide business intelligence, foster a testing and experimentation mindset, and deploy ML and AI strategies to solve critical product and business problems. They will lead and mentor 10+ direct and dotted line data analysts, scientists, and engineers, while partnering with key leaders across the organization to drive customer and business value. The ideal candidate is maniacal about scalable processes, comfortable rolling up their sleeves as needed, passionate about the transformative potential of data, and skilled at the art of storytelling and influence. This role reports to the CTO and will serve as the senior-most leader responsible for data strategy, insights delivery, and applied AI across Palmetto. This is a highly cross-functional position with regular engagement at the executive level.

Strategic & Tactical

  • Lead the company-wide analytics vision and roadmap to support business goals, product development, and customer experience; Help define KPIs, measurement frameworks, and long-term analytics goals
  • Oversee development of advanced dashboards and reports for the ongoing analysis and monitoring of our BUs, products, partners, markets, KPIs, OKRs, and other initiatives; Conduct ad-hoc analysis with rapid delivery to support key tactical decisions
  • Conceive of and lead ML / AI initiatives that drive customer value and underpin key product solutions, such as dynamic content and product recommendations for consumers or dynamic credit models for lending; connect these solutions to A/B testing strategies; Identify and support practical use cases for generative AI and automation tools to increase team productivity and insight generation
  • Create and drive adoption of testing and learning frameworks across the organization, especially in product (e.g., definitions of success and metrics, rapid enablement, etc). 
  • In collaboration with Engineering leadership, ensure modern data architecture and infrastructure.  Ensure security, reliability, redundancy, scalability, and cost efficiency.  Eliminate duplicative systems.  
  • Inspire, mentor, and grow a team of direct and dotted line analysts, scientists, and engineers, creating a supportive, accountable, and proactive team culture.
  • Build strong partnerships with senior leaders across Capital, Asset Management, Consumer, Product, Engineering, Finance, and Marketing

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of experience in data analysis, data science, or data warehousing with proven business analysis and product data experience: you thrive on combining rigorous data-driven analysis, strong business intuition, judgment, and an ability to work well across a variety of teams to solve complex problems.
  • Impact Orientation: You have the ability to translate quantitative data into actionable business insights and recommendations. Ability to communicate complex data concepts and reasoning in ways that product teams, senior management, and the wider organization will understand.
  • Data Fluency: Quantitative analysis and logical reasoning; 5+ years of experience using SQL and visualization tools on large data sets to extract trends and insights.
  • AI Orientation: Highly fluent in the emerging AI landscape and technologies, and an AI-first mindset.
  • Efficiency: Excellent organizational and prioritization skills as demonstrated by experience driving multiple, competing projects under deadline pressure.
  • Enthusiasm: You’re passionate about Palmetto’s mission and excited to bring clean, renewable solar energy to more people.

Even Better

  • Familiarity with Palmetto’s data stack and other core tools: MongoDB, SQL, dbt, Snowflake, Looker, Tableau, GitHub, Salesforce
  • MBA (or relevant experience)
  • Familiarity with ETLs and data modeling concepts (e.g., star schema, NoSQL)
  • Comfortable with many aspects of the data ecosystem (e.g., data modeling, defining metrics, visualization, analysis, communication, implementation)
  • Experience working at a dynamic and rapidly growing company, preferably in finance, technology, energy, or the construction industry
