Department Description

Palmetto Home is a branch of Palmetto focused on the democratization of the renewable energy and HVAC industries. We provide homeowners with financial products to benefit from solar power, energy storage systems, and home efficiency through advanced heating and cooling technologies. We empower solar and HVAC sales professionals and installation companies with access to our proprietary platform, financing, customer management system, and milestone quality control system. Our #1 focus is a phenomenal experience for our customers and partners, evidenced in our growing financial product adoption.

This position will report to the Manager, Strategy New Opportunities & Analytics

Summary of Role 

The Associate, Strategy, New Opportunities & Analytics is a versatile, many-hats role at the center of Palmetto Capital's corporate strategy and structured finance team. The primary focus is sourcing and structuring new capital opportunities — building financial models from scratch for structures that have never been done in the market, then rigorously stress-testing them through scenario and sensitivity analysis. Precision is paramount: this person is expected to run the numbers exhaustively and check their own work, and others', with a sharp eye for detail, while also contributing to the broader strategic analysis that shapes Palmetto's capital position and growth.

Strategic & Tactical

New Capital Opportunities (~50%)

• Build financial models from scratch for capital structures and financing products that have never been executed in the market
• Run scenario and sensitivity analyses to pressure-test new structures and identify the optimal capital mix
• Review and refine models built by senior team members, ensuring accuracy and rigor before they go external
• Evaluate new business opportunities through structuring and financial analysis of prospective initiatives
• Meet with prospective investors to explore new capital opportunities and financing facilities

Financial Modeling & Structured Finance Execution (~25%)

• Develop and own complex project finance models (Excel) supporting tax equity, debt, ABS, and other structured capital vehicles
• Support execution of debt, tax equity, and structured finance transactions, working directly with banks, investors, and legal counsel
• Conduct pricing analysis on financing structures and capital products to support competitive terms
• Maintain deal-tracking and transaction models across live and prospective financings
• Support due diligence, term sheet review, and closing processes for capital markets transactions
• Own recurring financial reporting for key Palmetto Finance stakeholders, partnering with technology teams to automate where possible
• Build and maintain relationships with banks, tax equity investors, and other external capital partners

Strategy & Analytics (~25%)

• Analyze market, competitor, and macroeconomic trends to inform financing and capital structure decisions
• Contribute to board-level and executive materials that connect capital structuring work to Palmetto's broader growth strategy
• Assess the company's future capital position and financing needs, incorporating relevant legislative and regulatory considerations
• Drive pricing initiatives across financing structures and capital products

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement (Ongoing)

• Partner closely with FP&A, Treasury, and Accounting
• Identify and implement improvements to capital markets and modeling processes
• Stay attuned to the needs of capital partners and internal stakeholders, anticipating requirements and proposing tailored solutions

Qualifications

•     Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA/CFA a plus
•     2-4+ years of experience in project finance, structured finance, investment banking, or capital markets; heavy, hands-on project finance and modeling experience required
•     Advanced Excel modeling skills, with a track record of building and maintaining complex project finance models (e.g., tax equity, structured debt, ABS, LBO)
•     Demonstrated experience running scenario and sensitivity analysis on new or novel financing structures
•     Exposure to debt, equity, tax equity, or ABS transaction structuring preferred; solar or renewables experience a plus
•     Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with close attention to detail in financial modeling
•     Ability to manage multiple transactions and workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
•     Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present analysis clearly to senior stakeholders
•     Highly motivated, collaborative, and comfortable operating with some ambiguity
