PALO IT is a global technology consultancy that crafts tech as a force for good. We design, develop and scale digital and sustainable products and services to unlock value across the triple bottom line: people, planet, profit. We do the right thing, and we do it right. We’re proud to be a World Economic Forum New Champion, and a B Corp-certified company.

  • We are small enough to care locally, big enough to deliver globally (5 continents, 18 offices, +650 experts from +50 nationalities)

  • We are robust and resilient (100% independent and 0 debt)

  • We are entrepreneurs and passionate experts: we invest in what we genuinely believe in and work as a collective intelligence

  • We are positive, courageous, caring, doers and committed to excellence

About Gen-e2

While the market is still largely AI-augmenting delivery, we have reinvented the SDLC to be AI First. With Gen-e2:

  • We generate up to 95% of the entire product — code, documentation, infrastructure as code, and even design — with GitHub Copilot.

  • Quality consistently exceeds the output of our best traditional engineering teams.

  • A product repository houses all product artefacts, giving AI full project context for higher-quality generation.

  • A library of rules and prompts defines coding standards, design principles, and security guidelines, ensuring enterprise-grade quality and scalability.

With Gen-e2, we deliver end-to-end products 2–3× faster than traditional approaches, while raising the bar for engineering excellence.

Your Role

As an Oracle DBA, you will ensure the availability, performance, security, and business continuity of mission-critical database environments. You will own Oracle installation and administration in production, lead incident resolution with an SLA mindset, and continuously improve operations through automation and high-quality documentation.

What you will do

  • Install, configure, and administer Oracle Database in production environments (on-prem and/or cloud depending on the project).

  • Execute continuous monitoring, tuning, and performance optimization (CPU, I/O, wait events, sessions, locks, query efficiency).

  • Manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies using RMAN, including periodic recovery testing.

  • Handle incidents end-to-end, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and ensure SLA compliance with clear stakeholder communication.

  • Automate operational tasks (scripts, jobs, validations, health checks) and ensure reliable execution.

  • Maintain thorough documentation (configurations, runbooks, procedures), produce operational reports, and support training for clients and internal teams.

  • Assess information security risks (hardening, access control, auditing, encryption where applicable) and propose mitigation plans.

  • Collaborate with infrastructure, network, and application teams to ensure end-to-end stability (DNS, NTP, LDAP, load balancers, OS-level dependencies).

Who You Are

Must have

  • Strong hands-on experience as a DBA with Oracle Database (10g to 20c).

  • Solid SQL / PL/SQL skills and query optimization experience.

  • Proven experience with Oracle performance tuning and production troubleshooting.

  • Strong RMAN knowledge: backup strategy, restore/recovery procedures, and validation/testing practices.

  • Working knowledge of Linux and/or Windows Server operations and troubleshooting fundamentals.

  • Understanding of core infrastructure and networking concepts: DNS, NTP, LDAP, IT security fundamentals, and load balancers.

  • A production-first mindset: incident management, on-call readiness (if applicable), ownership, and continuous improvement.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, Flashback, patching/upgrade planning.

  • Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and/or observability tooling (e.g., Zabbix/Grafana/Prometheus).

  • Exposure to other databases: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and/or NoSQL (operations, comparisons, migrations).

  • Scripting and automation skills (Bash/Python/Ansible) and version control (Git).

  • Oracle certifications (OCA/OCP) or ITIL/service management experience.

  • Professional English proficiency for global teams and documentation.
