About the Role:

This Lead AI Software Engineer role will focus primarily on Panorama’s generative AI products, Solara and Class Companion. Solara is a secure, district-customizable AI platform that helps educators quickly generate resources like intervention plans, family communications, and lesson ideas, all while safeguarding student privacy. Class Companion, integrated within Solara, brings real-time AI feedback and tutoring into classrooms, offering instant rubric-aligned feedback, individual student support, and educator insights. In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of AI-powered features across these products to support educators in improving student outcomes.

Our Lead Software Engineers are engineering leaders who use their technical skills and knowledge to support a squad of engineers through mentorship, collaboration, and role modeling. They serve as bridges among engineering and partners across product, design, and other Panorama teammates. They continuously work to align their squad with Panorama’s broader goals, and they contribute to the creation and evolution of those goals. Lead engineers work as engineers on a squad, and they influence the team by elevating voices, mentoring, modeling best practices, and building alignment towards key technical and organizational decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver generative AI-powered features using Anthropic’s Large Language Models through AWS Bedrock
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to inform and accelerate product innovation
  • Collaborate within a cross-functional team to design, build, test, review, debug, and deploy code that serves students and educators
  • Mentor teammates by sharing technical expertise, best practices, and domain knowledge
  • Partner closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to incorporate diverse perspectives and ensure alignment with company goals
  • Share industry and Panorama best practices to strengthen squad strategy and improve delivery outcomes
  • Foster an inclusive culture of open feedback and idea-sharing, enabling teammates to contribute their perspectives and experiences to build stronger products

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Has 6+ years experience developing production-level code in Ruby on Rails, Vue.js & TypeScript
  • Has 3+ years experience with web app development and deployment
  • Has 2+ years of hands-on experience building integrations with Large Language Models (e.g., OpenAI GPT, Anthropic Claude, or Google Gemini)
  • Has experience rapidly prototyping and iterating on new ideas to validate product concepts with diverse stakeholders

Has experience breaking down and shaping the scope and technical requirements of a series of several projects to help optimize for overall team delivery

  • Has experience working on a cross-functional team of engineers and non-engineers


Salary: the starting base salary for this role is $198,000/Anually 

The final salary offered will be based on several factors, including your overal experience and how the interviews go, but not limited to that. annually
