About the Job
We are commercializing a core technology that will operate in the worst conditions the world’s oceans have to offer for years on end without maintenance or human intervention. Delivering on this mission requires not only elite engineering talent but a small but mighty corporate leadership team that works to ensure an environment that runs smoothly, scales intelligently, and frees our team to focus on solving impossibly hard problems.
As the Shipping & Receiving Manager, you will lead the day-to-day logistics operations at our Portland, OR facility. You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely flow of materials into and out of the organization, maintaining clean and reliable inventory records, and building the physical and digital infrastructure to support future scale.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll design and improve logistics processes, oversee shipping partners and material transactions, and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements. You’ll work closely with internal teams—including manufacturing, supply chain, and facilities—to build a robust and responsive logistics operation that supports our rapidly growing company.
Our team of 70 includes team members who have worked at organizations such as SpaceX, Blue Origin, Boeing, Tesla, Apple, Virgin Orbit, Astra, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, New Relic, Bridgewater, Raytheon, Disney Imagineering, and the US Army and Air Force, as well as research universities, startups, and small companies across a range of industries. Responsibilities
- Oversee daily shipping and receiving operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution of inbound and outbound materials
- Champion digital systems improvements by developing operational requirements and partnering with internal software and IT teams
- Design and implement scalable physical infrastructure for inventory storage, conveyance, and material flow
- Manage and optimize inventory accuracy, including periodic audits, cycle counts, and transaction integrity
- Build and manage relationships with U.S. and international shipping providers and freight forwarders; onboard new vendors as needed
- Define and track logistics KPIs; identify opportunities for continuous improvement in warehousing and material handling
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards for logistics operations, including proper handling of hazardous materials
- Develop a scalable staffing roadmap to align with company growth and operational needs
- Serve as a cross-functional partner to manufacturing, supply chain, and facilities teams to ensure alignment of materials flow and physical layout strategy
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 4 years of experience managing a warehouse or logistics facility
- Proven experience using enterprise systems such as ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), Material Resource Planning (MRP), and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems)
- Strong background in developing and scaling logistics processes, including inventory control, material transactions, and facility-to-facility movement
- Hands-on experience implementing physical infrastructure such as signage, racking, workstations, distribution and conveyance systems
- Experience managing a variety of materials, including hazardous chemicals, bulk raw materials, electronics, and mechanical components
- Experience working with U.S. and international couriers and freight forwarding partners
- Familiarity with high-mix, fast-paced production environments is strongly preferred

- Intermittently able to work longer hours and weekends to support critical needs. While we expect a lot of each other, we also offer a high degree of autonomy and work-life balance, including unlimited PTO and flexible working hours.
Compensation and Benefits
If hired for this full-time role, you will receive:
- Cash compensation of $85,000 - $115,000
- Equity in the company. We’re all owners and, if we’re successful, this equity will be the most valuable component of your compensation.

Location
This is an on-site position. Our offices, lab, prototyping shop, and manufacturing facilities are located in and around Portland, Oregon.
