Purpose of the Position 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Data Business Analyst to join Pantheon’s Transformation Delivery team to support delivery of organisational transformation. Over recent years, Pantheon has experienced breath-taking growth with global expansion, new product offerings and significant increase in AUM; this has translated into a program of transformational change, focussed on the Operations and IT teams. The Data Business Analyst will have the opportunity to engage with the business at all levels and ability to support the project delivery across multiple key areas including strategy and architecture, business change, systems development and implementation. The role is to be recruited on a permanent basis.

The successful candidate will have experience in working across various Technology and Operational change projects, especially data focussed projects such as Data Warehouse change, and wider Transformation projects. They will be experts in the practice of developing and implementing data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.  Furthermore, the candidate will have strong stakeholder management skills and ability to work independently with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of seniority.

The successful candidate will be part of the Transformation Delivery programme to support and drive the implementation of enterprise wide improvements.

Key Responsibilities 

The Data Business Analyst is expected to assume the following key responsibilities plus any other reasonable duties as required:

  • Run workshops to gather business data reporting and analytical requirements and convert them into clear specific requirements documents, collaborating with technology and business team partners to drive consensus
  • Build source data maps for database & file data sources and contribute to the establishment of a source data dictionary and entity relationship diagrams representing Pantheon data platform
  • Contribute to the establishment of data rules for cleanliness confirmation and transformation
  • Elicit and document end-to-end AS IS/TO BE business process flows, data flows and requirements at the appropriate level of detail
  • Develop a clear understanding of the project, including objectives, scope and success criteria; proactively obtain any clarifications where necessary
  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders and subject matter experts including laying the foundations for the upcoming analysis
  • Uphold architecture standards for documenting and maintaining business process flows, data models and related artefacts
  • Work with architecture colleagues to validate requirements against solution proposals
  • Support the business and IT teams through all system life cycle phases
  • Ensure successful adoption of business and IT change within the business community by maintaining engagement with the user base, enabling training and support as required
  • Provide periodic progress reporting as required

Knowledge and Experience:

Functional

  • Experience in large data projects focused on reporting and analysis tools such as Power BI and ETL platforms such as Azure Data Bricks, Informatica, SSIS etc.
  • Strong knowledge of and experience of data analysis using SQL and Excel
  • Experience with backlog management in Azure DevOps or Jira
  • Demonstrable track record delivering high quality data analysis by distilling large and varied data sources to produce actionable business insight in data projects
  • Demonstrable track record developing and enhancing data models
  • BA experience in financial services, ideally within Private Equity or Fund Management
  • Ability to elicit and documenting end-to-end business process flows at all levels using BPMN
  • Ability to elicit and document detailed business requirements including provision of rationale and relevant context
  • Ability to work in a systematic, coherent and objective manner, demonstrating rigorous evaluation skills to arrive at an optimal solution
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Significant experience of waterfall and agile project life cycles within a structured environment.
  • Well versed with Microsoft Visio for production of process maps and data models
  • Strong track record of successful delivery against project objectives and delivering fit for purpose solutions
  • Consistently own and drive through issues to a successful conclusion with the respective teams in a timely manner

Stakeholder Management

  • Lucid and structured communication tailored to the audience
  • Experience in independently running workshops with both business as well as technical stakeholders to elicit business processes and requirements, review analysis and validate documented projects artefacts
  • Ability to develop and execute stakeholder engagement strategies, build strong rapport, constructively challenge stakeholder assumptions and mediate between conflicting requirements ensuring consensus
  • Ability to communicate complex solutions to stakeholders, both technical as well as non-technical in a clear and succinct manner
  • Ability to communicate rationale behind business processes and bring business teams/stakeholders and senior partners to align and concur
  • Exposure to working with external third-party vendors and partners

  • Experience using Azure DevOps
  • Experience of working on projects related to reporting systems
  • Experience of project management, team management and/ or scrum master responsibilities
