Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tax Associate/Senior Tax Associate to join our growing international tax team. This role will focus on providing comprehensive tax support for our fund and corporate group, with a strong emphasis on international tax structuring and income/indirect tax compliance. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of international tax compliance (with a primary focus on the US), experience in private equity or financial services, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Tax Compliance:
    • Provide support to tax advisors during the Group / Corporate and Funds US tax compliance cycle and have oversight of the process. This will include corresponding with and providing documentation as required to tax advisors and auditors for the Group / Corporate and Funds US income/indirect tax returns.
    • Review monthly, quarterly and annual global tax returns and remittances as prepared by tax service providers.
    • Assist with client tax queries, including with respect to Schedule K1 reporting.
    • Oversee and coordinate tax liability payment processes.
    • Prepare and review international tax filings, including Forms 5471, 8858, and other relevant forms.
    • Assist with the preparation of tax provisions and disclosures for financial reporting purposes.
    • Support the management of international tax audits and inquiries.
    • Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations and documentation requirements.
  • International Tax Planning:
    • Assist in structuring international investments and transactions to optimize tax efficiency.
    • Conduct research and analysis on international tax laws and regulations, including relevant treaty provisions.
    • Contribute to tax diligence and investment closing process to support accompanying/resulting fund tax compliance.
  • Fund and Portfolio Company Support:
    • Provide tax support for fund formation, capital raising, and investor closing.
    • Assist with the review of Limited Partnership Agreements and side letter tracking to ensure compliance.
    • Lead in projects to maintain valid FATCA and CRS documentation and repaper them, as necessary. 
  • Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with internal teams, including legal, finance, and investment professionals, to provide tax advice and support.
    • Work closely with external tax advisors and service providers.
    • Contribute to the development and implementation of internal tax policies and procedures.
    • Monitor tax legislative updates in relevant jurisdictions and conduct reviews of new and existing activities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Relevant tax experience, preferably in international tax, with a public accounting firm or financial services company.
    • Prior Private Equity experience useful but not mandatory.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of U.S. international tax principles.
    • Proficiency in tax research databases (e.g., Checkpoint, BNA).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
    • Familiarity with partnership taxation.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.  
    • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.  
    • Strong work ethic and professional demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or equivalent professional certification.
  • Experience with tax software and data analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of foreign tax systems.
  • Experience in the private equity or financial services industry.
