Purpose of Position
We are seeking a private equity investment professional to join the US Secondaries Investment Team, based in New York. The individual will execute private equity secondary transactions alongside senior members of the team.
We are looking for someone from either a reputable secondaries firm or private capital advisory practice with direct experience executing LP-led transactions and strong financial modelling capabilities. The role will be predominantly LP-led driven, with a primary focus on underwriting and executing traditional LP stake transactions across the US private equity market.
While the role will focus mainly on LP-led opportunities, investment activity may also include GP-led transactions, such as single company secondary transactions across the US PE buyout universe that require a similar level of due diligence as direct buyout or co-investment opportunities. The individual will be able to leverage Pantheon’s longstanding relationships across the Primary and Co-investment platforms.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate is expected to assume the following key responsibilities, plus any other reasonable duties as required:
- Executing the diligence and financial modelling of private equity secondary investment opportunities, including managing the flow of diligence materials received, leading diligence meetings, supporting transaction due diligence, preparing investment memoranda, and presenting opportunities to the Secondary Investment Committee
- Coordinating closely with senior team members on deal negotiations and transaction completion
- Monitoring the evolution and performance of completed transactions, as well as selected brand-name buyout funds across the US private equity market
- Supporting other secondaries business development and origination initiatives and interfacing with clients
- Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and Pantheon policy
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Prior financial analysis and valuation modelling experience required, preferably within a reputable secondaries firm or private capital advisory practice
- Direct experience underwriting LP portfolio transactions strongly preferred
- Ability to assess and synthesise the merits and risks of an investment in an insightful manner and develop and execute appropriate diligence plans to address key considerations
- Ability to work in a collaborative, global team, including virtually across offices (e.g., SF, NY, London) and across the Pantheon platform (Primaries, Co-investment, Private Credit, Infrastructure)
- Ability to work to tight, transaction-driven deadlines with minimal supervision and manage workloads efficiently
- Outstanding verbal and quantitative problem-solving and communication skills, demonstrated through mastery of Excel and PowerPoint (financial modelling and investment memoranda) and engagement with key stakeholders (GPs, intermediaries, portfolio company executives, clients, and senior internal stakeholders)
- “Strong ownership mentality and entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to take initiative, improve processes, and drive workstreams independently in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment
- Familiarity with applying AI and data-science tools to enhance LP-led transaction evaluation and diligence efficiency is a plus
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion
Expected base salary range: $120,000 - $135,000
Actual base salary is determined by a range of factors including individual experience, skills and qualifications.
In addition to the above salary, Pantheon offers a generous employee benefits package and successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus
