Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure
About us:
Parabola is the spreadsheet alternative where you combine the data running throughout your company and create automated processes.
Pull in data from any source you can imagine—from scattered spreadsheets and tools, to emails and PDFs—and build logic that replicates the manual work you do every day. Use our canvas to combine and transform your data, and surface the results to the right people at the right time so you can do more with the data you rely on. In the process, you’ll codify the steps for every workflow you manage so they become repeatable, shareable, and usable for the whole team.
Create solutions for the problems you’ve always wanted to solve, and make your work more shareable and impactful along the way.
Parabola is proud to serve companies like Flexport, Sonos, Uber Freight, Brooklinen, and Chubbies and is backed by OpenView Partners, Matrix Partners, Thrive Capital and more.
About the role:
As a Senior Software Engineer on our rapidly growing team, you’ll help build our core platform features, reinforce and evolve our technical foundation, and work with a unique flow-based calculation engine that already demonstrates high throughput and availability but needs your help to continue scaling.
What you'll be doing:
- Leading major infrastructure and developer experience projects from the ground up - from ideation, to implementation, to roll-out, to hand-off & documentation.
- Taking ownership over Parabola's cloud infrastructure, and continuously look for opportunities to improve efficiency, security, and reliability.

- Optimizing our services for scalability, stability, and observability as our customer base grows and our product becomes more sophisticated.
- Collaborating with a small-but-mighty group of engineers with a wide array of backgrounds and areas of expertise.
- Helping our team define processes and practices that will serve us for years of growth and success.
What (we think) you'll need to do it:
- 5+ years of DevOps, infrastructure, or site reliability experience working in a team-based high-availability production environment.
- Proficiency implementing and managing AWS infrastructure from the ground up and the ability to continuously evolve the stack to improve efficiency, security, and reliability.
- Proficiency managing Linux systems and Docker containers.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes/Helm (we use Amazon EKS).
- Experience implementing and deploying infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) tools to manage production cloud environments (e.g. Terraform, Ansible)
- Proficiency managing CI/CD pipeline for multiple environments.
- Experience with private cloud and public internet services networking (e.g https, SSH, multi-factor auth) and implementing security best practices into infrastructure.
- You’re not afraid to ask for help, and you’re happy to give it, too.
- You care about the craft of engineering, and you’re dedicated to making sure your work is stable, secure, and maintainable.
- You’re an enthusiastic communicator and you like working with a team that provides both mutual support and thoughtful critique.
- You're excited to join a hybrid team and work out of our SF or NYC office ~3 days a week.
Nice to haves:
- Experience with Temporal (https://temporal.io/).
- Experience scaling Enterprise infrastructure including Data Governance, Security, or Privacy.
- Experience building cloud storage or data modeling products.
