IN A NUTSHELL…
Parallel is seeking an Extraction and Refinement Lead responsible for the extraction and refinement of cannabis flower into high-quality medical cannabis oils. This role supports ethanol-based extraction of dried cannabis flower to produce full-spectrum oils (RSO/FXO) and distilled cannabinoid oils used across medical cannabis products.
The Extraction and Refinement Lead oversees all aspects of the extraction process, including preparation of harvested cannabis (shucking and grinding), ethanol extraction, and distillation to produce medical-grade oils. This role also ensures extraction facilities and equipment are properly maintained and operating in compliance with company standards.
Additionally, the Extraction and Refinement Lead is responsible for following, maintaining, and auditing SOPs related to extraction, production, and manufacturing processes. When needed, this role will support analytical testing and assist the production team with testing, COAs, packaging, and product creation.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Follow Parallel Policies & Procedures for the daily operations and fully comply with state medical marijuana regulations
- Responsible for specific deliverables including production and quality targets
- Prepare cannabis material for extraction, including shucking, grinding, and staging dried flower.
- Execute ethanol extraction using Delta Cup cold extraction methodologies.
- Perform downstream processing, including filtration, rotary evaporation, decarboxylation, and wiped film distillation to produce medical-grade cannabis oils.
- Operate, monitor, and optimize extraction and refinement equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting on extraction and refinement equipment.
- Maintain accurate and compliant documentation, including batch records, production logs, and equipment logs.
- Update, maintain, and audit standard operating procedures (SOPs) as processes evolve.
- Ensure strict adherence to all company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements related to extraction and manufacturing.
- Support analytical testing activities as needed, including assisting with in-house testing and COA generation.
- Provide cross-functional support to production teams as required, including packaging, product formulation, and finished goods manufacturing.
- Prepare cannabis material for extraction, including shucking, grinding, and staging dried flower.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS YOU’LL BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline preferred; direct cannabis extraction experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in manufacturing, production chemistry, or a comparable technical role. Candidates entering directly from academia may substitute relevant laboratory or R&D experience, provided it is clearly demonstrated.
- Demonstrated experience or working familiarity with general laboratory equipment and safety practices, including:
- Solvent-based extraction systems (e.g., CLLE, Soxhlet, or large-scale extraction platforms)
- Filtration techniques and associated safety protocols
- Rotary evaporation and wiped film distillation
- Analytical sample preparation and operation for HPLC and/or GC-MS, including data review and software integration
- Experience with formulation, dilution calculations, and an understanding of GMP and lean manufacturing principles preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform routine equipment operation, inspection, and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to safely perform repetitive lifting of up to 50 lbs and work within C1D2 laboratory environments.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively, adapt to changing priorities, and provide support across operational areas as needed.
- Strong attention to detail, documentation accuracy, and commitment to safety, quality, and compliance.

- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
