About the Opportunity
We are looking for a Cultural Resources Specialist (Archaeologist) to join our Cultural Resources team in California.
In this role, you will perform a variety of cultural resources tasks to support and help grow the California Cultural Resources team. As part of the Cultural Resources group, you will report to the California Cultural Resources Director and work with multi-disciplinary project teams in a hybrid work environment.
Your Role on the Team:
- Lead the design, implementation, and supervision of archaeological and historical surveys, site evaluations, and impact mitigations.
- Serve as a Principal Investigator, assuring technical quality of processes, methods, and products associated with field and research work.
- Write and edit technical regulatory compliance reports, research designs, and data-recovery/mitigation plans.
- Assume project management responsibilities, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and coordinating detailed phases of large-scale projects.
- Act as a liaison with clients and agencies while providing professional mentorship to less experienced cultural resources staff.
- Travel and perform fieldwork throughout California, including work in remote areas and variable terrain and weather conditions.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Master’s degree (M.A. or M.S.) in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field.
- Current status as a Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA).
- Significant experience conducting analyses for review under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, CEQA, and NEPA.
- Proven experience acting as a Field Director for archaeological surveys, testing, and data recovery projects.
- 9+ years of related experience and/or training in cultural resources management.
- Ability to qualify as a Principal Investigator for archaeological investigations on state and federal lands.

Salary Range
$100,000 - $135,000 USD
Compensation is determined by factors such as education, experience, location, and role. As employee-owners, we are eligible for performance-based bonuses and our salaries are reviewed annually. We value transparency and look forward to discussing our compensation structure.
