About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a Scientist II to join our Chicago-based team, supporting a range of environmental, natural resource, and NEPA compliance projects across the Midwest. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys a balance of fieldwork, technical writing, and planning. This position will work independently while developing under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Your Role on the Team:
You’ll contribute to projects from field to final deliverable, including:
- Conducting aquatic resources delineations and other biological field investigations
- Supporting environmental permitting, NEPA documentation, and planning efforts
- Preparing clear, high-quality wetland reports and technical documentation
- Assisting in the preparation of NEPA documents (e.g., Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and supporting technical reports)
- Coordinating with internal teams to integrate resource studies into NEPA documents and environmental compliance strategies
- Traveling to project sites across the Midwest (~25% of the time)
- Assisting with agency coordination and responses to comments under NEPA and related regulations
What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in environmental consulting, ecology, or related field
- Strong technical writing skills and experience turning field data into clear, defensible reports
- Ability to work independently and manage your time effectively
- Experience with biological fieldwork including aquatic resources delineations, habitat assessments and reporting

Salary Range
$70,000 - $90,000 USD
Compensation is determined by factors such as education, experience, location, and role. As employee-owners, we are eligible for performance-based bonuses and our salaries are reviewed annually. We value transparency and look forward to discussing our compensation structure.
