DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in a safe and efficient manner. Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Ability to manage a team of 1-4 personnel as needed.
  • Direct field technicians and drivers picking up waste containers.
  • Determine and load supplies needed for job completion and travels to various industry, laboratory, and school sites to perform lab pack services.
  • Identify, segregate, inventory, and package a wide variety of lab quantities of chemicals -- packing compatible materials in appropriate containers and preparing for transportation; completing necessary paperwork per job.
  • Perform field HAZCAT (Hazard Category) tests as needed to classify unknown chemicals for disposal.
  • Ability to take and submit samples for submittal to an outsourced analytical laboratory.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the hazardous waste disposal (40 CFR), hazardous materials transportation (49 CFR), and relevant safety rules for handling hazardous chemicals (29 CFR).
  • Introductory knowledge of high hazard materials management /assessment and cylinder handling.
  • Manage small to medium environmental clean-up projects.
  • Assist sales with estimating job costs and resources needed in addition to post-project job costing as needed.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS

  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Environmental Science, or a science related field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a lead in lab packing, profiling, and managing hazardous waste.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to identify and act for efficient and effective servicing of our clients.
  • Excellent verbal, non-verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Detailed-oriented and organized for record keeping and time management.
  • Intermediate user in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams..
  • Ability to develop and manage effective client relations.
  • Ability to wear a respirator and additional personal protective equipment as needed to work with hazardous chemicals. Respirator use requires the ability to always have a clean-shaven face.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, DOT physical, and drug screen.
  • Ability to pass Motor Vehicle Record search to company standards.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work on your feet on projects as needed.
  • Some travel will be required depending upon client site location requirements.
  • Good computer skills including fluency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and other software as needed.

Pay: $75,000 - $95,000 per year

The compensation for the role will depend on several factors, including the candidate's qualifications, work experience, competencies, and skills, and may fall outside of the range shown.
