- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Direct Bill Accountants, providing coaching, training, and day-to-day support to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex reconciliation issues, carrier challenges, and unresolved direct bill exceptions.
- Review and approve monthly reconciliations prepared by direct bill accountants, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with established accounting guidelines.
- Monitor team productivity, quality, and service levels, identifying opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Partner with the Direct Bill Operations Senior Manager to manage workloads, staffing priorities, and the consistent application of direct bill policies and procedures.
- Support agency onboarding activities, banking transitions, carrier consolidations, and other operational initiatives that impact direct bill processing.
- Guide team members in the use of commission posting platforms, agency management systems, and reconciliation tools to ensure accurate revenue recognition.
- Collaborate with carriers, client service teams, and agency personnel to resolve escalated issues quickly and effectively.
- Assist in the development of training programs, process documentation, and best practices that support a scalable direct bill operation.

What You Bring
Day One:
- Strong knowledge of the insurance brokerage industry, direct bill processes, and industry regulations.
- Experience with insurance agency management systems, preferably EPIC and BenefitPoint.
- Proficiency with accounting software, financial management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Advanced Excel skills, including data filtering, pivot tables, formulas, and large-volume data analysis.
- Proven experience leading, coaching, mentoring, or supervising a team.
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to analyze financial data and generate meaningful reports.
- High aptitude for technology, software adoption, and system utilization.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards when handling sensitive information.
Valuable Additions:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Three to five years of experience in direct billing, accounts receivable management, or a related role within the insurance brokerage industry.
- Prior supervisory or team lead experience within an accounting, finance, or insurance operations environment.
- Experience with Ascend, Comulate, or similar commission processing platforms.
- Experience supporting agency onboarding, carrier consolidations, process standardization, or operational transformation initiatives.
