Why join Pave?

At Pave, our vision is simple--unlock a labor market built on trust.

How are we going to get there? By building a compensation platform powered by the largest real-time compensation dataset on earth, giving you confidence in every compensation decision.

We partner with our customers to help them build and retain world-class teams through planning, communicating and benchmarking their team’s compensation in real time.  And you don’t have to just hear it from us — you can hear it from our customers: AllbirdsHoverCredit Karma, Grammarly, and more.

We’re growing fast, building an incredible team and product, and having plenty of fun as we do it in our San Francisco and New York City offices.

If playing to win, building with intellectual honesty and focusing on in the Pave platinum standard sounds like fun - we highly encourage you to reach out. We’d love to partner on our journey to change the world of compensation!

The Engineering Team @ Pave:

Pave has significant momentum in the compensation data market, but it's still early in the journey (7500+ integrated companies, exponentially growing data-specific revenue in the millions). We are in a data race to become the dominant data provider in compensation. We are seeking a talented Senior Manager to play a critical role in the future of our data products.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will own the execution of two high-visibility areas: Market Data and Compensation Bands. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a scalable, reliable, and innovative product roadmap while also nurturing and growing a world-class engineering team. This role is both strategic and hands-on, demanding a balance of deep technical expertise and strong leadership.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Manage and grow a high-performing software engineering team focused on delivering exceptional data-enriched user experiences and APIs for all of our products.
  • Partner with peers across Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) to build a product roadmap that balances immediate customer needs, future growth, and long-term technical vision.
  • Develop, coach, and mentor Engineering Managers and individual contributors. Identify high-potential team members and create opportunities for their growth.
  • Establish and maintain high standards for code quality, reliability, and scalability.
  • Lead your team in defining a clear technical vision and partner with other engineering leaders to implement best practices and engineering-wide improvements.
  • Work closely with the Data Engineering team to align on technical direction and manage benchmark data releases. Collaborate with other business and technical stakeholders to deliver the “front end” of our data experience.
  • Drive the development of new features and solutions by leveraging our powerful compensation dataset. Enable other teams to integrate data-driven insights into their products.
  • You will have the opportunity to shape innovative products in a domain that affects 50% of global GDP.
  • Work with some of the most influential tech companies and play a critical role in solving their compensation challenges.

What You'll Bring:

  • 8+ years of experience in engineering with at least 3 years in management. Demonstrated experience in scaling and leading engineering teams in high-growth environments.
  • Solid experience in delivering data-driven and API-first products.
  • Proven ability to mentor first-time managers and individual contributors, fostering a culture of growth and learning.
  • Ability to balance immediate needs with long-term goals, making informed trade-offs between technical goals and business outcomes.
  • Experience partnering with product and design leaders to build cohesive roadmaps and deliver excellent customer-focused solutions.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with B2B SaaS, especially at the enterprise level.
  • Background in early product development and managing technical trade-offs when going from 0-1.

A final note — we highly encourage you to apply for this role, even if you don’t feel entirely qualified, or entirely sure. You never know!

Compensation, It's What We Do.

This salary range may include multiple levels. Your level is based on our assessment of your interview performance and experience, which you can always ask the hiring manager about to understand in more detail. Salary is just one component of Pave's total compensation package for employees. Your total rewards package at Pave will include equity, top-notch medical, dental and vision coverage, commuter benefits, catered lunch, an unlimited PTO policy, and many other region-specific benefits.

Pave's salary range for this position

$221,000 - $299,000 USD

Our Compensation Philosophy

Pave’s compensation philosophy is to target the 75th percentile of the market for both cash and equity at your job level.  This means that the “mid point” of every band at Pave is the 75th percentile of the broader market.

Pave also has a merit-based philosophy when it comes to compensation increases. We run a performance cycle twice per year to evaluate employees’ performance. Higher than average performance ratings result in compensation increases to the upper end of the individual’s compensation range for their role. The result is that high performers at Pave are paid above the 75th percentile of the market at large.

Pave is committed to pay equity. If you get an offer from Pave, it will be based on your level as determined by your interview performance.  And nothing else.  We explicitly do not negotiate salary and equity to ensure that we aren’t introducing bias that could lead to pay inequities within the team between candidates who have different negotiation tactics.

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
