Sr. Product Manager (Alternative Payments)

Remote

Company Description

At PayNearMe, we’re on a mission to make paying and getting paid as simple as possible. We build innovative technology that transforms the way businesses and their customers experience payments. Our industry-leading platform, PayXM™, is the first of its kind—designed to manage the entire payment experience from start to finish. Every click, swipe or tap is seamless, fast and secure, helping non-commerce businesses boost customer satisfaction, accelerate payments, and reduce costs.

Our single platform handles it all: cards, ACH, digital wallets such as PayPal, Venmo, Cash App Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and even cash at more than 62,000 retail locations nationwide. Today, thousands of businesses across consumer lending, iGaming and online sports betting, property management, and tolling trust PayNearMe to deliver a payment experience that drives real results.

In September 2025, we raised a $50 million Series E funding round to accelerate our growth.

We’re a team of 200+ employees across 41 states, headquartered in Silicon Valley with satellite offices in Dallas, TX and Holmdel, NJ.

Join us and be part of a team that’s shaping the future of payments—one experience at a time.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager at the intersection of banking, payments, and digital platforms – someone who combines strategic-level thinking with hands-on product execution, to support payments and disbursements across a diverse ecosystem of billers, merchants, and financial partners.

This senior individual contributor role is ideal for a product leader who:

  • Thinks in multi-year platform strategy,
  • understands the economics and mechanics of electronic payments,
  • has taken products from zero to launch, and
  • prefers working shoulder-to-shoulder with engineering teams to deliver.

Our electronic payments platform powers consumer experiences and merchant efficiency across both traditional rails (cash, cards, ACH) and next-generation methods (wallets, real-time payments, BNPL), with deep operational intelligence.

You will lead Wallet and Alternative Payment initiatives spanning:

  • Real-Time Payments (RTP, FedNow)
  • Request for Payment (RfP)
  • Digital Wallets (Cash App, PayPal/Venmo, Apple Pay, Google Pay)
  • BNPL & alternative financing options
  • B2C consumer payments and disbursements
  • B2B merchant/biller funding flows

This is a highly-visible driver role in a complex high-impact domain, with ownership of strategic payment capabilities that drive company growth.  You will have direct influence on next-gen payment rails, and the opportunity to shape how modern money movement is built and scaled.

Strategic Vision with Hands-On Execution

  • Define and communicate a clear product vision grounded in market opportunity and economics.
  • Build and drive multi-quarter roadmaps aligned to company growth.
  • Translate strategy into detailed requirements, integration and launch plans.
  • Remain deeply engaged with delivery teams throughout execution — not just at planning stages.

0 → 1 Product Development

  • Identify new electronic payment and funding opportunities through market analysis and ecosystem analysis.
  • Build business cases including TAM, unit economics, pricing, and margin considerations.
  • Lead products from concept through integration, certification, launch, and scale.
  • Expand capabilities across new use cases, partners, and verticals.

Processor & Partner Integration

  • Evaluate processing, banking, and wallet partners.
  • Lead integrations with gateways, issuing/acquiring banks, real-time networks, and wallet providers.
  • Work at the API and architecture level with internal and partner technical teams.
  • Navigate certification processes, compliance requirements, settlement models, and operational readiness.

Payments + Disbursements Expertise

  • Design flows for both inbound consumer payments and outbound disbursements.
  • Understand merchant/biller funding models and liquidity considerations.
  • Balance speed, cost, risk, and customer experience across rails.

Operationalization & Risk Alignment

  • Ensure products are fully operationalized at launch — not just shipped.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, and Finance to formalize controls.
  • Embed fraud mitigation, regulatory requirements, and operational workflows into product architecture.
  • Define reconciliation, reporting, exception handling, and support models upfront.

AI-Enabled Productivity

  • Use AI tools to accelerate product discovery, experimentation, documentation, and decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI across payments, risk, and operations.
  • Encourage AI-enabled workflows across Product and cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

Senior-Level Strategic Builder

  • 8–12+ years of Product Management experience in FinTech or electronic payments.
  • Ability to operate at executive altitude while still driving detailed execution.
  • Strong point of view on where wallet, real-time, and alternative payment ecosystems are heading.
  • Experience evaluating market opportunities and structuring partnerships.
  • Demonstrated 0→1 product launches in payments.

Integration & Ecosystem Experience

  • Hands-on experience integrating with processors, banks, or payment networks
  • Builds relationships, roadmap alignment, and clarity across external partners.
  • Comfortable owning certification and go-live processes

Technical & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Fluent in APIs, system design, and payment orchestration concepts
  • Able to work seamlessly across Engineering, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and external partners
  • Excellent communicator who can align stakeholders across business and technical teams.
  • Brings clarity to complex systems and decisions

Deep Payments Fluency

Strong working knowledge of:

  • Card networks and debit rails
  • ACH and bank-based payments
  • Real-time rails (RTP, FedNow)
  • Wallet ecosystems and tokenization
  • BNPL and alternative financing
  • Settlement, reconciliation, funding, and dispute flows
  • Consumer payments and disbursements
  • B2B merchant/biller funding models

Cross-Vertical Insight

Experience and perspective in one or more of the following is highly valued:

  • Lending & alternative credit
  • Banking and embedded finance
  • Gaming or high-volume transaction platforms
  • Bill payment ecosystems

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
